EastEnders viewers recently learned that George Knight (Colin Salmon) helped his adoptive father, Eddie (Christopher Fairbank), die – and Eddie was a racist. This shocking revelation has added another layer of drama to the show.
Last week, I watched this incredibly tense scene where George finally faced off with Eddie, the man who’d haunted his life for forty years. It turns out Eddie was responsible for the death of George’s dad, Henry Asare, all those years ago. It was a really powerful moment, seeing George finally confront him.
After receiving money from Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) to allow him to live out his final days in Albert Square, Eddie led his family to believe he had changed during his time in prison and was truly sorry for what he’d done.
George was horrified to discover that letting him stay at their home had exposed his daughter, Gina (Francesca Henry), to continued racist harassment.
I was really disturbed to hear about what Eddie did. He basically told Gina Knight – Francesca Henry, such a talented actress – that he didn’t think she was good enough for Harry Mitchell, Elijah Holloway, and then he repeated it to her! She was understandably horrified, and honestly, I was too. It felt so unnecessarily cruel and condescending.

To shield his family from more suffering, George chose not to help Eddie when he started choking on pills. He stood back and watched as Eddie’s life ended.
The Knight family’s leader is clearly deeply affected by the recent death, and was seen at The Boxing Den trying to release his frustration. Despite a dangerous brain injury that could be fatal with another head impact, he insisted on fighting Mark Fowler (Stephen Aaron-Sipple).
He was knocked unconscious, but Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) quickly came to his rescue. Thankfully, George regained consciousness and didn’t want to go to the hospital.
Phil realized something was terribly wrong, and during their conversation, George admitted he’d chosen not to save Eddie. Given Phil’s complicated past, he’s unlikely to reveal this secret to anyone.
Oscar Branning was busy trying to give attention to both twins, Jasmine Fisher and Josh Goodwin, who were playing nearby.
Oscar is currently dating Jasmine, but he’s secretly developing feelings for Josh. They recently had a deep conversation where Josh revealed that his adoptive father had passed away before his and Jasmine’s birthday, and Jasmine was the only person there for him at the time.

When their big day rolled around, the twins were separated.
Oscar ran into Jasmine and accidentally let slip that Josh had shared details about their difficult upbringing. Jasmine was furious that her private life had been revealed and slapped him.
When Josh and the other person returned, they couldn’t help but kiss. Unbeknownst to them, Kat Moon had arrived at the house to invite Josh to a birthday dinner and was watching from the window.
What will Kat do, now that she knows about the affair?
