EastEnders’ Balvinder Sopal bursts into tears following moving dance – as one Strictly judge steps onto stage to comfort her

Balvinder Sopal, known for her role on EastEnders, was deeply moved to tears when she and her Strictly Come Dancing partner, Julian Caillon, received a standing ovation for their emotional Viennese Waltz. They danced to the song ‘Never Enough’ from The Greatest Showman.

Balvinder and Julian have faced a tough journey this season, surviving five dance-offs to reach the quarter-finals. However, they received their best score yet – a 35 – from the judges in their most recent performance.

The audience absolutely loved them, giving both dancers a standing ovation – it was so moving to watch, and you could really see it affected the EastEnders actor. Julian was immediately full of praise for his partner, telling her it was all for her and that he was incredibly proud and she deserved all the applause.

The judges all gave Balvinder positive feedback, but it was Motsi Mabuse’s words that especially touched her, bringing her to tears again.

To be honest, Shirley and I were holding hands the entire time we were dancing. It started right when the music began and Julian, my dance partner, approached us…

You both became very vulnerable and connected with each other, sharing a unique emotional experience. It seemed like everything you’d been holding back for weeks came out during that dance. After everything you’ve endured in this competition, it must be incredibly disheartening.

Balvinder was so upset by the comments that she began to cry, and Julian held her. This prompted Motsi to leave the judges’ area and go onstage to offer comfort.

In a heartwarming hug, Motsi told Bavinder, “You were fantastic. I’m really proud of everything you’ve done.”

Balvinder shared with Claudia Winkelman that he’d been waiting for that amazing feeling throughout the entire competition and was incredibly thankful. The good news didn’t stop there – they received their highest score of the series, a fantastic 35, from the judges.

Shirley Ballas, one of the judges, gave Balvinder and Julian a score of nine for their Viennese Waltz, performed to the song “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman. She had previously praised the celebrity dancer after their performance.

She told her, ‘You always seem so composed, and even long after this competition, you’ll always be a hero to me. Considering everything you’ve overcome and then delivering such an incredible performance… it gave me chills.’

“It was sensitivity, grace, charm, beauty, determination.”

As Strictly Come Dancing nears its end, Balvinder seems to be improving with each performance.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday, 7th December at 7:45pm.
