EastEnders character confirmed to be leaving soap after 18 months on Albert Square

EastEnders star Micah Balfour is bowing out of Walford after just 18 months.

In May 2024, the 47-year-old actor joined the cast as Junior, the long-lost son of George Knight (Colin Salmon). Their characters first met during an underground boxing match.

Just weeks after he arrived, his wife ended their marriage and relocated to Dubai with their son.

He later had a romantic relationship with his ex-stepmother, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins). Their affair was revealed to both families by Lauren Beale (Jacqueline Jossa) last Christmas.

Junior was initially a suspect in the violent attack on Cindy, believed to have been committed with a snow shovel. However, it was later revealed that Kathy Beale was actually responsible.

He recently revealed that George had secretly spent Christmas with his mother, a fact he’d hidden from his wife, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe). This caused them to break up and led to Kat and Alfie Moon (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie) buying The Queen Vic.

This comes after a report in The Sun, where a source said that Micah’s contract wasn’t renewed and he finished filming his last scenes last month.

“Obviously Micah was gutted but he understands how it all works.

“His final scenes will air before Christmas. The door is being left open.”

Micah is the newest character to exit, and Molly Rainford, who plays Anna, is also leaving the show.

Could the pair’s exits be linked?
