Roland Manookian, who plays Teddy Mitchell on EastEnders, is leaving the show after a year and a half, according to the BBC.
The character joined the Mitchell family in Albert Square last year, moving in with his sons, Harry and Barney. He quickly became part of the community and reconnected with his long-lost brother, Billy.
He was quickly reunited with his ex-wife, Nicola (Laura Doddington), and has been involved in major plotlines ever since. He was devastated to learn that his girlfriend, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), had been unfaithful with her ex-husband – and his cousin – Grant (Ross Kemp).

Honestly, things really took a turn when we found out Zack Hudson was actually Barney’s dad! It was such a shock. Then, it all went crazy – there was this huge car chase, and both of them ended up crashing into a river. I was on the edge of my seat!
Recently, things reached a crisis point when he found out Harry had unintentionally killed drug dealer Okie Okyere (Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu). Determined to protect his son from prison, he made the difficult decision to take the blame himself.
This week’s episodes center around Teddy’s murder trial, and it appears Manookian’s time on the show is coming to an end.

I was really surprised to hear that someone involved with the show apparently told The Sun that they felt the character’s storyline had just naturally come to an end. It sounds like they decided it was time for him to move on.

Teddy leaving will likely cause long-term problems for his family, especially since Harry is already struggling with drug addiction and has overdosed repeatedly.
