As a long-time EastEnders fan, I always get a little thrill when someone I recognize walks back into Albert Square. And this week? They really delivered! We weren’t treated to just one surprise return, but two! It was great to see those characters back on my screen.
Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) returned after nearly two years and let her ex-fiancé, Zack Hudson (James Farrar), know she’s now dating someone else.
It came as a surprise, but this event really kicked off a lot of trouble. He tried one last time to win Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) over before her wedding to Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw), but when she rejected him, he hinted to Ross that she had been unfaithful again.
Two familiar faces were missing from the event: Vicki’s mother, Michelle – who has been played by both Susan Tully and Jenna Russell – and her half-sister Sharon Watts, played by Letitia Dean.
Sharon and her young son, Albie, have been living with Michelle in Florida for the past seven months. We recently found out they were told not to spend a lot of money on plane tickets to come visit.

To everyone’s delight, including Vicki and the audience, Sharon unexpectedly arrived back in Walford on Tuesday, bringing baby Albie with her. It’s clear she’s been away for a long time and has missed a lot that’s happened.
Today on the show, she questioned her close friend Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) about a secret: Linda had a fling with her ex-husband, Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp), but was hesitant to admit it. Meanwhile, she remains unaware of the affair between Vicki and Zack.
But is this a fleeting visit for Sharon? Or is she back for good?
Is Sharon Watts back in EastEnders permanently?
On today’s episode of This Morning, soap expert and EastEnders writer Sharon Marshall shared some hints about what’s coming up for the character Sharon on the show.
Marshall playfully told hosts Siân Welby and Craig Doyle that she only carried a tiny pink bag for her makeup.

She’s planning a brief visit for the wedding, then she’ll be leaving again. However, she’ll return permanently in about a month.
The journalist suggested things are getting better now that things are back to normal, and we couldn’t agree more.
TopMob understands this to be true, and more details will be revealed in forthcoming episodes.
After Ross directly asked Vicki if she had been unfaithful with Zack, and she didn’t deny it, the next episode promises to be full of drama.
Yet another EastEnders wedding for the soap history books!
