Lauren Beale‘s (Jacqueline Jossa) desperate act has caught up with her in EastEnders.
She recently learned about a promising new medical trial that offers hope for a cure to her baby son Jimmy’s vision problems.
Lauren and her husband, Peter, accepted that their child would have an unusual childhood. However, they ultimately believed this wouldn’t stop him from living a life that others would see as typical.
Honestly, even though things looked pretty bleak, I never gave up hoping for a turnaround. So when this mysterious Dr. Adamson reached out with some encouraging numbers, my curiosity was definitely sparked – I had to know more.

But there was a problem: the doctor required £3,000 upfront before he could even start thinking about a treatment plan for Jimmy. This meant Lauren had to work incredibly hard and make significant sacrifices to get the money.
Each week, The Queen Vic pub holds a charity quiz night to support a local organization helping children with vision loss. Amazingly, the money raised each time perfectly matched the amount the charity needed.
She was about to donate to the St. Lucy’s charity, but then she chose to send the money to the man who had reached out to her instead.
When Lauren called to check on things, she only reached a voicemail. Then, the website wouldn’t open, and she began to suspect she’d been scammed.

She was completely unsure what to do – it’s not every day you discover a large sum of money unexpectedly. Her anxiety grew when someone from the charity arrived, explaining that Lauren and Peter had been chosen as their ‘benefactors of the month’ and would be highlighted in the media once the donation was received.
Lauren swiftly made an excuse to get her friend away, then decided to tell Peter’s father, Ian (Adam Woodyatt), what had really happened.
He wondered how she expected it to be kept from Peter, and urged her to go to the police.
What will Ian do?
