EastEnders pays tribute to Frank Barrie, late cast member and theatre star, who has died aged 88

Both the authorized EastEnders X and Instagram pages have honored Barrie, who portrayed Edward Bishop on the soap opera from 2010 to 2011.

During his tenure on the soap opera, Barrie portrayed Edward in a total of 23 episodes. He was particularly recognized for his friendship with the late June Brown’s character, Dot Branning. Notably, he also served as the choirmaster at Walford Church.

Apart from his time on the TV show set in Walford, Barrie gained significant recognition for his stage performances. In fact, he first stepped onto the stage in 1959 as part of a York Theatre Royal production of Henry IV, Part 2.

Lately, Barrie took on the role of Harry Flashman in the 2020 stage play “Flashman at 80”, a performance marking the fictional 200th anniversary of the character.

Barrie has been seen in more than 150 different TV series, taking on various characters, including appearances in Doctor Who, Howards’ Way, and Queen of Swords.
