Eddie Murphy is going to be a grandfather again.
Eddie Murphy’s daughter, Bria Murphy, is pregnant with her first child. She and her husband, Michael Xavier, are expecting a baby.
Bria, 35, proudly showed off her baby bump at the Los Angeles premiere of her father Eddie’s new Netflix documentary, Being Eddie, on November 12th. She wore a fitted, patterned dress and posed for photos with her father and siblings, highlighting her growing belly.
Bria and Michael are expecting a baby three years after their private wedding in Beverly Hills, which was celebrated with around 250 close friends and family.
Eddie Murphy is a father to ten children. He shares Bria, Myles, Shayne, Zola, and Bella with Nicole Murphy. He has Christian with Tamara Hood, Angel with Mel B, and Izzy and Max with his wife, Paige Butcher. He also shares a son, Eric, with Paulette McNeely.
Eddie is also grandad to Myles and his wife Carly Fink’s two daughters Evie and Zuri.
Eddie, 64, recently looked back on his legacy as a father of 10 kids—which he didn’t see coming.

You know, life just takes you on unexpected journeys! I recently shared with People magazine that having a big family – ten kids, to be exact – was never part of the original plan. But honestly, it’s been the greatest adventure. I truly believe that if you’re in a position to comfortably provide for a larger family, embracing that joy is something special. It’s a lot of fun, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Eddie is proud that his children are not only funny, like him, but also kind and decent people.
He said he was proud that all of his children were good people. He believes they inherited some of their good qualities from him.

Eddie Murphy has a large family! He shares son Eric with Paulette McNeely, and has five children – Bria, Myles, Shayne, Zola, and Bella – with his former wife, Nicole Murphy. He also has Christian with Tamara Hood, Angel with Mel B, and Izzy and Max with his current wife, Paige Butcher.
Despite his kids spanning a wide age range – nearly 30 years between his oldest and youngest – Eddie says his parenting approach has remained consistent. In a July 2024 interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, he described himself as a “laid back” and “cool dad” who still sets boundaries, and always makes time for important events like school plays.
However, he admitted he’s more lenient with his youngest children, Izzy and Max. “They really have it good,” he said. “They get to go wild and loud.”

Eric Murphy, born in July 1989, is Eddie Murphy’s oldest son from his relationship with Paulette McNeely. Unlike his father, who is famous in front of the camera, Eric prefers to work behind the scenes, doing voiceover work for projects like Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate, Megamind Rules!, and even some of his father’s films.
In a July 2024 Instagram post, Eric shared, “People often tell me I sound just like my Dad, and I recently got to put that to the test by doing ADR for him in the new Beverly Hills Cop film.” He explained that ADR, or Automated Dialogue Replacement, involves re-recording dialogue in a studio to improve sound or sync with lip movements, and he found the experience enjoyable.
Eric also found love with a little help from his father. He married Jasmin Lawrence, the daughter of Martin Lawrence, in May 2025, with both their fathers’ blessing. Eddie Murphy told CBS Sunday Mornings, “They’re both beautiful. They look amazing together. And it’s funny, everybody’s like, ‘What! That baby gonna be funny.’”

Nicole Murphy and Eddie Murphy met at an after-party for the NAACP Image Awards and married in 1993. Together, they had five children: Bria, Myles, Shayne, Zola, and Bella. Although they divorced in 2005 after 12 years of marriage, they remained friendly.
In a July 2024 interview, Nicole shared, “My kids adore their dad, and I’ll always have love for Eddie. We’re cool, we’re good, we’re friends.” She decided to keep the Murphy surname, explaining she earned it after years of marriage and because her children share the name. She also noted that changing a name is a process.
Nicole, who appeared on VH1’s Hollywood Exes from 2012 to 2014, has also been linked to other celebrities. She was previously engaged to Michael Strahan, but they ended their relationship in 2014 after seven years.

Bria Murphy, Eddie Murphy’s oldest daughter with Nicole, was born in November 1989, just a few months after her brother Eric. Like her father, she’s passionate about acting. In 2024, she appeared in his film Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, playing a fellow officer, and her husband, Michael Xavier, was also in the movie, making it a true family project.
Bria admitted she was initially nervous about working with her dad, telling Entertainment Tonight she didn’t want to accidentally hurt him during a scene. Ultimately, she had a great time and felt fortunate to be part of such a significant film.
This wasn’t Bria’s first acting role alongside her father; she also appeared in his 2003 film Daddy Day Care. Beyond that, she has credits in The Perfect Match, The Game, and Conflict of Interest. Bria is also a talented painter.

Eddie Murphy had another son, Christian, with Tamara Hood in November 1990, between the births of his children Bria and Myles with Nicole. While Christian generally stays out of the spotlight, he occasionally shares glimpses of his life on Instagram, posting pictures with his siblings at holidays and with their father at red carpet events. He once called his family the “Best looking family in #america” in a post accompanying a photo from the premiere of Eddie’s 2016 film, Mr. Church.

Myles, born in November 1992, is Eddie Murphy’s youngest son with Nicole Murphy. He generally keeps a private life, but has occasionally appeared on red carpets at premieres for his father’s films like Mr. Church, The Nutty Professor, and Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. His wife, Carly Murphy, whom he married in September 2023, shares glimpses of their family life on Instagram, including sweet moments with Eddie as a grandfather. They have two daughters: Evie, born in July 2019, and Zuri, who arrived in October 2024. Eddie told Vanity Fair in 2020, shortly after Evie’s birth, that she was starting to call him “Papa,” even though she couldn’t fully talk yet.

If you watched season two of the reality show Claim to Fame in 2023, you probably remember Shayne. After being eliminated, she received a heartwarming message from her father.
In a video shared at the end of the episode, Eddie, who welcomed Shayne with Nicole in October 1994, told her, “Shayne, I love you so very much, and I’m so proud of you, my baby girl.”
Shayne clearly felt the same way about him.
She described him as “a legendary comedian and entertainer,” but more importantly, “the best dad in the world.”
Besides appearing on TV, Shayne also creates food and art, which she shares on her social media account, Shayne’s Kitchen.

Born on Christmas Eve in 1999, Zola is considered by her mother, Nicole, to be the greatest Christmas gift she’s ever received. She appeared on her mother’s reality show, Hollywood Exes, alongside her sisters Bria, Shayne, and Bella. Although she’s occasionally joined her family at red carpet events, Zola now primarily shares updates with fans through her Instagram, where she posts about her travels, style, and other interests.

Like her sister Bria, Bella shares a love for acting and appeared in her father’s 2021 film, Coming 2 America. Even though she’s Eddie Murphy’s daughter, she still had to audition for the role.
“I just wanted to do a good job,” Bella explained in an interview with Good Morning America. “I didn’t want people to think I was only cast because of my dad, or that I couldn’t keep up with the other actors.”
She certainly succeeded, making her father incredibly proud. Eddie Murphy described how emotional it was to watch her work on set. “Even something simple like a child’s painting on the fridge can make you tear up,” he said on the WTF With Marc Maron podcast. “So to see your daughter working alongside you, contributing to the film, doing a great job, and even performing fight scenes… it was incredibly moving every single day.”

Mel B (Melanie Brown) started dating Eddie Murphy in 2006. She remembers feeling a strong connection when they first met at a dinner party, so much so that she left because it felt overwhelming. Despite the intensity, she found him to be a kind, family-oriented, and respectful man, and they dated privately for a while.
She thought they were on the same page about their future, especially after planning their wedding and discovering she was pregnant – something she believed Eddie also wanted. However, she was unexpectedly broken up with after she took a few days to consider their relationship.
The couple split by the end of 2006, and their daughter, Angel, was born in April 2007. Initially, Eddie questioned whether he was the father, but a DNA test confirmed he was. Mel continues to hold a special place in her heart for Eddie, and when asked in 2018 if she still loved him, she confirmed that she always will, while acknowledging that he is currently in a committed relationship with Paige Butcher.

Mel wrote to Angel on her 18th birthday in 2025, saying, “You’re such a special, bright, and talented person! I’m incredibly proud of the person you’ve become, even though you’ll always be my baby. I hope you continue to pursue your dreams and always be kind, just like you are. Love you always.” Mel is now married to Rory McPhee.

Eddie and Paige made their relationship public four years before welcoming their daughter, Izzy, in May 2016. Eddie, who previously appeared on Saturday Night Live, has often spoken about his love for children, once saying he enjoys having a large family and would even like to have ten kids if Paige agreed. She did! In November 2018, they welcomed their son, Max.
Despite getting married in July 2024, Eddie and Paige prefer to keep their children’s lives private and don’t share photos of them on social media—mainly because Paige doesn’t even have accounts. She briefly tried Facebook and Instagram, and even Twitter, but ultimately decided to delete them all. She explained that being in a relationship with a celebrity made her feel like there was already too much information about her available to the public. She wanted to protect her privacy and limit access to her personal life, believing that anything shared online could be used against her. She also admitted her social media posts were rather mundane, mostly focusing on her volunteer work.
