Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) has made a cardinal error in Emmerdale – he’s messed with a Dingle!
As viewers may remember, earlier this year, a scheming businessman forced Robert Sugden to hide passports belonging to the workers being exploited by Celia Daniels and Ray Walters at Butler’s Farm.
Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) suddenly found herself a suspect, having been accused of both human trafficking and double murder.
If Robert hadn’t agreed, Joe would have revealed a video showing Victoria Sugden killing her half-brother, John, to the police. Moira refused to give up her share of the business, but learning that her husband, Cain, had been diagnosed with prostate cancer made her realize the struggling company was adding to his stress.
Yesterday’s episode revealed some long-held secrets when Robert, feeling guilty, finally confessed everything. Moira promised not to involve the police, but warned Robert to stay away from Cain, who would be furious if he learned the truth.

Moira was still incredibly angry in the latest episode, dwelling on a moment when she believed Kyle and Isaac might be left unattended. Driven by her rage, she stormed over to Home Farm and confronted Joe, even pointing a shotgun at him.
It was awful – he was pleading with her not to shoot, and he actually shouted for Graham when he heard him coming. Then Dawn showed up, and she was the one who finally managed to get through to Moira, telling her she was carrying Joe’s baby. It was a total shock, but it stopped Moira from going through with it.

Joe was completely shocked to find out he was going to be a dad. Dawn wanted to know why Moira had made things so difficult, and he had to quickly make up a story to explain what she meant.
She promised everything would be alright for their family of six, as long as he stopped lying. Joe told her he’d been honest about everything, but actually, Dawn still had a lot to learn.
What will she do when she learns the truth?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.

As a long-time follower of British soap operas, I’ve come to really trust the insights of Michael Adams. He’s the Soaps Editor over at TopMob, and honestly, he knows everything happening in Weatherfield (that’s Coronation Street for those unfamiliar!), Walford (EastEnders), the Dales (Emmerdale), and even Hollyoaks. Before joining TopMob, he was a Soaps Reporter at Metro for a couple of years, and get this – he’s actually worked on the sets of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale! That kind of behind-the-scenes experience really shines through in his reporting, giving him a unique perspective on all the drama.
