Emmerdale airs explosive confession from Robert Sugden in early ITVX release

In Emmerdale, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) finally admitted a deeply troubling secret to Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb), revealing the guilt that has been weighing on him.

She was recently freed from jail after being held while awaiting trial for charges of human trafficking and two counts of murder.

Okay, so this was a seriously tense scene! Basically, Joe Tate was really twisting Robert’s arm, making him do something awful. He forced Robert to plant fake passports – belonging to people Celia Daniels and Ray Walters were essentially holding captive – right in Celia’s living room. It was all a power play by Joe to try and take over Celia’s farm, Butler’s Farm, and it was just… unsettling to watch.

If Robert hadn’t agreed, Joe planned to reveal a video to the police showing Victoria Sugden killing her half-brother, John.

Moira refused to give up her part of the business, but learning that her husband, Cain, had been diagnosed with prostate cancer made her see that the struggling company was just adding to his stress.

Joe put Robert in charge of farming the land and renamed it ‘Emmerdale Farm’ to honor the Sugden family’s history in agriculture.

Since leaving prison, Moira has found it difficult to adjust to life with the Dingles at Wishing Well Cottage and doesn’t believe their new farm will succeed. She’s been focusing on helping Robert, hoping to rebuild a stable life for herself.

He repeatedly refused her assistance, because he was responsible for her imprisonment.

Moira was disappointed that Cain hadn’t remembered her birthday, so she returned to Emmerdale Farm and offered to help out. Robert insisted he didn’t need assistance, but he did have a small, late gift to show his appreciation for her thoughtfulness.

He gave her three framed photos of the old Butler property, discovered in the attic and taken by her late daughter, Holly. Then Robert offered to cook for her, which immediately made her suspicious.

Moira sensed something wasn’t right, and Robert, wanting to unburden himself, told her everything. She was stunned and at first believed Robert and Joe had secretly worked together to take away her ability to earn a living.

When she found out Vic was being blackmailed, she immediately rushed to tell Cain. He was already upset after an argument with his brother, Sam (James Hooten), and didn’t want to speak to anyone, which gave Robert a chance to hurry to Wishing Well and attempt to stop her from contacting the police.

Moira sees Vic as a daughter and won’t get her involved, but she plans to tell Cain everything. She advised him to avoid Cain once he finds out what happened!

How will Cain react?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
