Pop singer Jason Donovan will be making a special appearance on the TV show Emmerdale later this year.
The actor became well-known for playing Scott Robinson on the soap opera Neighbours. He was a regular cast member for 456 episodes from 1986 to 1989 and later made a final appearance in the show’s last episode in 2022.
But on this occasion, he won’t be playing his Ramsay Street alter ego.
Donovan is set to appear as himself in scenes filmed at The Woolpack pub. This comes as a big shock to devoted fan Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick), and pub owner Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) celebrates by wearing a flashy, golden suit.
The episodes were filmed at the Emmerdale studios in Leeds, and will feature Donovan performing one of his popular songs for the residents of the village.
He shared his excitement about appearing on Emmerdale, explaining he’ll be playing himself in a cameo role.

I had a fantastic time filming, and everyone on set – both the actors and the crew – made me feel really welcome. Singing in the Woolpack pub set was a particularly memorable experience.
Producer Laura Shaw shared that they were thrilled Jason would be on the show. She explained that Lydia Dingle is a big fan, and there was a lot of excitement on set when he arrived.
“I hope the viewers enjoy his cameo as much as the Emmerdale family did.”

Donovan is continuing a tradition of well-known figures appearing as themselves on the show, joining previous guests like ice-skaters Torvill and Dean, singer Marti Pellow, and chef Antony Worrall Thompson.
He’s now part of a growing group of former stars from Australian soap operas who have come to work on the show set in the Yorkshire Dales, joining Anne Charleston, Richard Grieve, and Emily Symons.
