Despite facing a murder trial, there’s still a chance Bear Wolf, also known as Joshua Richards, might not be convicted in Emmerdale.
Earlier this year, the character broke free from slavery at Ray Walters’s (Joe Absolom) farm and, in a shocking turn of events, strangled Ray. Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) witnessed the attack and then assisted in loading the body into Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) van.
After weeks of secretly trying to hide what he’d done, Bear finally broke down and told his therapist everything. He immediately followed up by calling the police.
Bear violated the terms of his bail and was arrested again. Investigators discovered he wasn’t the only one involved, and Detective Sergeant Walsh (Amanda Ryan) realized he was being dishonest because he couldn’t replicate the specific knot used to bind Ray’s body.
Paddy and Dylan believed they likely wouldn’t be charged with self-defense, so they turned themselves in to the police. However, they were then accused of obstructing justice, and their families urgently tried to help them get released.

The lawyer said that if they could show Ray intended to hurt Dylan when he died, the jury might think Bear acted in self-defense to protect him.
On today’s episode of the show, Aaron Dingle proposed a risky plan to Paddy’s wife, Mandy: asking someone to lie to cover up a situation. They quickly thought of Laurel Thomas as a possible helper. Surprisingly, Laurel’s son, Arthur, encouraged her to go along with it, believing it could actually benefit the whole community.

Even so, she worried about getting involved and decided not to help the Dingles with their request.
Arthur went to the pub to tell Aaron and Mandy he was going to follow through with the plan. He felt it would be more believable coming from him since he was one of the last people to see Ray before he died.
Despite feeling hesitant, Aaron believed they didn’t have many options and agreed to Arthur’s proposal.
Will it be successful?
