This Halloween, Epic Games is giving away two horror games for free through the Epic Games Store, with one being a standout title from 2024. You can download and keep these PC games, but you need to claim them within the next week – the offer ends on November 6th. After that, they’ll be replaced with new free games.
The Epic Games Store is easy to use – all you need is a free account. Unlike some other platforms, there are no subscription fees, and once you add a game to your account, it’s yours to keep forever. Every week, Epic Games Store offers at least one game for free, and sometimes even more. Check out the details of this week’s free game below.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit
The horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit came out on PC through Steam on August 7, 2024, but it’s now available for the first time on the Epic Games Store. It’s been highly praised this year, earning an 87 on Metacritic and a “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, which represents 95% approval from over 4,886 player reviews – the highest rating possible for a PC game.
The game puts you in the role of Oswald, a man feeling unfulfilled until he discovers a forgotten pizzeria. Inside, a ball pit holds the key to his past, revealing his greatest desires and the surprising price he’ll have to pay to reach them.
The game is a typical horror adventure, lasting around four to six hours to complete. It costs PC players about $20, and is developed by Mega Cat Studios.
Bendy and the Ink Machine
I’m a big fan of Bendy and the Ink Machine! It’s a first-person horror game that came out in 2017, and while critics gave it a 71 on Metacritic, I think that doesn’t really tell the whole story. On Steam, where I got it, it’s hugely popular! It has a ‘Very Positive’ rating – that’s the second highest you can get – with 88% of over 10,000 reviews being positive. It’s a really cool game!
In this game, usually priced at $20, you take on the role of Henry as he explores the long-abandoned Joey Drew Studios – a studio with a troubled past – and encounters lingering, terrifying demons.
If you’re planning to play Bendy and the Ink Machine, expect it to take between four and seven hours to finish. Just like Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit, the exact time will vary depending on how you play and how much of the game you choose to explore.
If those two horror games don’t appeal to you, there’s a new, free horror game in the style of classic PlayStation games. You can find it on Steam, not the Epic Games Store.
We’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave a comment below or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum. And, what horror game are you planning to play this Halloween?
