Lindsey Vonn’s red carpet moment at the 2025 ESPYS nearly went downhill.
Nevertheless, it was Karin Kildow, her sister, who came to the rescue during the July 16 event at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, helping the Olympian overcome an unexpected clothing mishap.
At the event, Lindsey wore an Elisabetta Franchi maroon dress without sleeves that reached her waist and had a side slit, showing off her left leg while subtly exposing only the hip of her strappy underwear. Yet, as the wind picked up speed, her dress’s opening flapped open widely, almost unveiling her underclothes.
In the midst of chaos, Karin swiftly stepped in to aid the athlete who was up for the Best Comeback award at the ceremony, ensuring that the situation didn’t escalate further.
Even though the situation took an unforeseen turn, Lindsey, who had previously presented the award for Best Play to Saquon Barkley at the event, ensured to celebrate her winning flair in typical fashion.
Powerful and womanly… It doesn’t have to be an either/or situation,” was how the 40-year-old captioned her photos in two different dresses she wore on Instagram on July 17. “We can embody both aspects. Simply be yourself.
Emphasizing her toned muscles, Lindsey sarcastically added, “And no…. I didn’t skip leg day.”
Additionally, Lindsey (who returned from retirement in November 2024 with aspirations to participate in the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics) was humbled to be nominated alongside hockey player Gabe Landeskog, gymnast Suni Lee, and soccer star Mallory Swanson.

“I can hardly fathom being nominated again for an ESPY award… simply amazing! Sharing photos of my ESPYS red-carpet moments on Instagram, July 12. This recognition means so much to me and is truly humbling.”
She expressed amazement at the fact that her initial nomination in that particular category occurred a decade back, and she graciously admitted to voting for Suni – the eventual winner – as her comeback performance in Paris was simply breathtaking!
