I’m so excited! After a really bumpy ride, the Looney Tunes are finally coming back to theaters with Coyote vs. Acme this summer! You might have heard it was almost shelved – Warner Bros. initially decided not to release it, but thankfully Ketchup Entertainment stepped in to save the day. Now that the release date is set for August, we’re starting to see what the movie’s all about, and the first trailer looks amazing! It’s exactly what you’d expect – pure Looney Tunes chaos and fun!
The new movie, Coyote vs. Acme, focuses on Wile E. Coyote, but it features many other popular Looney Tunes characters as well. Director Dave Green is including a wide range of favorites, even some lesser-known ones. Here’s a list of all the Looney Tunes characters confirmed to appear in the film so far.
1) Wile E. Coyote

As a huge Looney Tunes fan, I was really excited to hear about Coyote vs. Acme. It’s a completely fresh take on the classic cartoons – finally, after all those years of gadgets failing and plans backfiring, Wile E. Coyote is taking Acme Corporation to court! What I love most is that this time, the movie puts Wile E. at the center of the story as the main character, which is a big departure from other Looney Tunes movies.
2) Road Runner

Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner are an iconic duo, famous for their appearances in classic Looney Tunes cartoons where Coyote constantly, and unsuccessfully, tries to catch the Road Runner. The trailer features glimpses of the Road Runner, including a memorable shot at the beginning showcasing Acme’s faulty rocket skates.
3) Porky Pig (and Mrs. Cat)

Around the one-minute mark in the Coyote vs. Acme trailer, you can see Porky Pig and Mrs. Cat looking at flowers. Shortly after, Porky is hilariously hit by a swinging wrecking ball and crashes into a building. Will Forte’s character, Kevin Avery, then jokes about potentially paying Porky $250 for the damage, which quickly shows us what Kevin is like. It’s unclear how important Porky’s role is in the movie, but it seems likely he’d consider taking Kevin up on the offer.
4) Tweety Bird

You can briefly see Tweety Bird in the trailer, mirroring the classic rivalry between the Coyote and Road Runner with Sylvester the Cat. First, John Cena’s character, Buddy Crane (a lawyer for Acme), is shown squeezing him tightly. Later, Tweety is seen aiming an Acme shotgun at something unseen. While details about his part in the movie are still secret, it looks like Tweety might be causing problems for the Acme Corporation.
5) Daffy Duck

Daffy Duck, a classic Looney Tunes character who’s been around since the 1930s (appearing in more cartoons than all but Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig during animation’s golden age), will be featured in Coyote vs. Acme. While he’s only briefly seen in the trailer, he delivers the line “Ac-me? Ac-you!” and a quick visual gag shows his eyes briefly transforming into the Acme logo, hinting he might be working with them. This effect is a classic cartoon trope, usually used to show a character’s greed or affection.
6) Foghorn Leghorn

The world of Coyote vs. Acme seems to be filled with cartoon characters who are complaining about the Acme Corporation, and Kevin Avery is the one they’re coming to. However, Foghorn Leghorn is an exception – he’s actually working for Acme. In the trailer, he appears as a lobbyist trying to pressure Buddy Crane into quickly settling the case to keep things quiet.
7) The Tunes at St. Looney’s

The trailer for Coyote vs. Acme shows the filmmakers really dug into the classic Looney Tunes archives. A shot of St. Looney’s, a home for the “exceptionally looney,” features a group of lesser-known characters – like Frisky Puppy, Pete Puma, a couple of Instant Martians, George the Fox, and Hippety Hopper. These characters probably appear briefly to emphasize just how bizarre St. Looney’s really is.
8) Tasmanian Devil

I was so excited to hear about Coyote vs. Acme at Comic-Con last summer! They actually showed some footage, and the big news was that the Tasmanian Devil is going to be in it! He wasn’t in the first trailer they released, but I’m hoping we’ll see more of him as they ramp up the marketing. I’m really curious to see how he fits into the story!
9) Granny

Like the Tasmanian Devil, Granny wasn’t shown in the movie’s trailer, but she did appear in footage shown at Comic-Con last year. Traditionally, Tweety Bird has been Granny’s pet, so it will be interesting to see if that relationship carries over into the film Coyote vs. Acme.
10) Miss Prissy

The upcoming court case featuring Kevin Avery and Wile E. Coyote will have a jury made up of cartoon characters. A preview shows Miss Prissy, the chicken, as one of the jurors.
11) Chester and Spike

These two dogs have always appeared together in the classic cartoons, and that will be true in the new movie, Coyote vs. Acme. Chester and Spike are shown in the courtroom during Wile E. Coyote’s trial, but they’ll likely just have brief appearances.
12) Sylvester the Cat

Whenever Tweety Bird and Granny appear, Sylvester the Cat usually shows up too. Many Looney Tunes cartoons feature Granny trying to protect Tweety from Sylvester, who is supposed to be her pet. Although Sylvester wasn’t in the movie’s trailer, a photo posted by John Cena in November 2022 showed Granny, Tweety, and Sylvester together, suggesting he will be in the film.
13) Elmer Fudd

Elmer Fudd, famous for always trying to catch Bugs Bunny – who he calls his “pesky wabbit” – was one of the characters John Cena featured in some social media posts in late 2022. He shared a picture from a cartoon on Instagram showing Bugs and Daffy Duck using disguises to trick Elmer.
14) Yosemite Sam

I’ve been keeping a close eye on John Cena’s social media, and I noticed a fun post from December 2022 showing Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam getting ready for an arm wrestling match. It wasn’t a direct appearance in the movie trailer, but knowing that other characters he’s posted – like Foghorn Leghorn, Porky Pig, and Daffy Duck – are in Coyote vs. Acme, I really think he was hinting at Yosemite Sam being in the film too! It definitely felt like he was sharing pictures of the Looney Tunes characters who made the cut.
15) Bugs Bunny

While Bugs Bunny isn’t the main character in Coyote vs. Acme, the filmmakers still found a way to include him. The trailer suggests he’ll play a key part in the story, even having a heroic moment when Wile E. Coyote’s lawyers ask for his assistance in the lawsuit against Acme.
