Season 5 of The Boys has a lot of storylines to finish, both for the main heroes and the villains at Vought. But true to the show’s style, it’s also introducing new characters with superpowers. We’ve already met seven new supes in the first two episodes, though it’s unlikely they’ll be major players in the upcoming fight between Homelander and The Boys – at least not in a direct, physical way. Warning: Spoilers ahead for Season 5, Episodes 1 & 2.
A powerful new hero is actually someone we’ve seen before, and she might play a key, though understated, role in the upcoming battle against Homelander. The other new characters introduced this season seem designed to be secondary, even the ones with considerable strength.
7) The Worm

To rescue their friends from one of Homelander’s compounds, Butcher and Starlight team up with a supe named The Worm, played by Ely Henry. The Worm can eat and expel dirt, which proves useful for digging a tunnel. However, he’s likely the weakest supe we’ve seen so far. He doesn’t have any other significant powers and isn’t trained for fighting, as he’s pursuing a writing career. Because of this, he’s near the bottom of the list of new supes, and it’s unlikely he’ll reappear after the first two episodes of The Boys Season 5.
6) Countess Crow

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, known for Never Have I Ever, joins Season 5 of The Boys as Countess Crow, a superhero who can communicate with and control crows. She’s part of a new team of young heroes introduced in Episode 2, titled ‘Teenage Kix.’ While her ability could be helpful, she isn’t the most powerful member of the group. In fact, she seems to be the weakest, as another character, Sheline, appears capable of defeating her crows, and she lacks the physical strength and speed of her teammates. Although a large swarm of crows could make her a formidable opponent – potentially even stronger than The Worm – she doesn’t pose a major threat compared to other characters.
5) Sheline

In Season 5, Episode 2 of The Boys, we meet Sheline, another member of Teenage Kix (played by Emma Elle Paterson). She’s introduced while filming an energy drink ad, and is shown gathering people for Homelander’s camps. Like Countess Crow, Sheline is an influencer with powers – hers give her cat-like abilities, including sharp claws and quick reflexes, though she occasionally coughs up furballs during fights. She puts up a good fight against Kimiko in Episode 2, demonstrating her strength, but she’s not as powerful as some of the newer supes with more experience, which is why she ranks lower on the list.
4) Jetstreak

Okay, so one of the leaders of the group Teenage Kix – before things happened to him in episode two – was this character Jetstreak, played by Dylan Colton. He’s a teen with superpowers, and as you might guess from the name, he can fly and is fast. He also seems pretty tough in a fight, which is typical for these young heroes in training. It’s not the most groundbreaking power set, but he holds his own, and honestly, his abilities are more noticeable than those of Countess Crow and Sheline, even if they aren’t totally original. He’s the second strongest member of the Kix, though there are two others who definitely have more pull – and I suspect could probably beat him in a straight-up fight, too.
3) Oh-Father

Daveed Diggs joins Season 5 of The Boys as the character Oh-Father, a supe who appears mainly as a preacher. We see him often with his wife, Ashley Barrett, during the early episodes. Because he’s a preacher, Oh-Father seems to have more power influencing people than in physical combat. However, his voice can create sonic waves that are likely more destructive than we’ve witnessed so far, giving him a ranged attack that other supes like those in Teenage Kix lack. While he isn’t the toughest or strongest supe around, he does possess enhanced physical abilities, making him at least as strong as Jetstreak. Plus, his age likely gives him a significant advantage in experience. It’s difficult to pinpoint his exact ranking without seeing more of him, but he has the potential to be as powerful as, or even more powerful than, Jetstreak.
2) Ashley Barrett

Fans of The Boys are familiar with Ashley Barrett (played by Colby Minifie), but a powered version of her appears in Season 5. While she isn’t physically strong, Ashley’s power isn’t about brute force – in The Boys universe, power comes in many forms. Season 5 reveals Ashley can read minds, which is both incredibly helpful and potentially very dangerous.
As a film buff, I’m fascinated by Ashley’s character. She isn’t about brute force, either offensively or defensively – she’s a master manipulator! She can essentially read people, figuring out their motivations and using that to control them, which we see brilliantly with her control over ‘Oh-Father.’ Being VP gives her the platform to do this on a national scale, which is pretty terrifying. The only one she can’t get inside the head of is Sister Sage, and that makes Sage incredibly dangerous. Physically, Ashley isn’t a powerhouse, so she’s ranked below this new supe everyone’s comparing to Homelander. But honestly? I’d still put my money on Ashley against most of the mid-level heroes. Her mind is her superpower.
1) Rock Hard

In the first two episodes of The Boys Season 5, Rock Hard quickly establishes himself as the most powerful of the new supes introduced. Butcher even compares him to Homelander, which is why the team decides to test their supe virus on him. Played by Andrew Iles, Rock Hard is the final member of Teenage Kix. His incredibly tough, rock-like skin makes him almost impossible to injure, and the team ultimately needs the virus to take him down. Even then, he can hold his breath for an impressively long time. While he’s primarily an offensive powerhouse – able to shoot lava from his body – there’s a catch: he’s permanently transformed into a large, rocky form. This isn’t great for stealth or maneuverability, but at the start of Season 5, Rock Hard is undeniably the strongest supe The Boys encounter.
