As a huge movie fan, it’s no secret that Batman is *everywhere*! DC Studios and Warner Bros. are working on a ton of Batman projects – both for their new DC Universe and as separate ‘Elseworlds’ stories. Honestly, since Batman first showed up in Detective Comics #27 back in 1939, he’s become one of DC’s most iconic heroes. That’s why we’ve gotten so many live-action movies and animated series about the billionaire Bruce Wayne protecting Gotham, and it sounds like there’s a whole lot more coming our way!
Bruce Wayne, the man behind Batman, doesn’t have any superpowers. Instead, he uses his vast fortune to fund his crime-fighting gear, including strong armor, weapons, and high-tech equipment. This allows him to operate as the powerful and well-known hero Batman, even though he’s not as powerful as some of DC’s characters who *do* have superpowers. Batman has been featured in numerous films and TV series, starting with the early serials starring Lewis Wilson in the 1940s and continuing with Adam West’s popular portrayal in the 1960s, and many more Batman projects are currently in the works.
10) Bat-Fam (November 10, 2025)
I absolutely loved the *Merry Little Batman* special last year, and I’m so excited to hear they’re expanding that world with a new animated series called *Bat-Fam*! It’s fantastic news that Luke Wilson and Yonas Kibreab are coming back to voice Batman and Little Batman. From what I understand, the show will be set at Wayne Manor and introduce a whole cast of characters – even some of Batman’s classic villains like the Joker and Killer Croc. I can’t wait to share this with a new generation of fans when it arrives on Prime Video on November 10, 2025!
9) Clayface (September 11, 2026)
Clayface, the shape-shifting villain, is getting his own movie in the DC Universe! Written by Mike Flanagan and directed by James Watkins, the film will star Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, a Gotham actor who becomes Clayface after a devastating accident. Early photos from the set suggest connections to Batman – who hasn’t been chosen yet – and will introduce some of his famous allies. *Clayface* is currently scheduled for release on September 11, 2026, as part of the first phase of the DCU, known as Gods and Monsters.
8) Batman: Knightfall (2026)
DC Comics is adapting the classic 1993 Batman storyline, *Knightfall*, into a series of animated movies. Announced at New York Comic-Con, the first film is expected to be released in 2026. The series will cover the iconic story of Batman’s battle with Bane, his subsequent defeat, and the rise of Azrael, who ultimately damages Batman’s legacy. With scripts by Jeremy Adams and direction by Jeff Wamester, this multi-film adaptation of *Knightfall* is shaping up to be an exciting project.
7) The Batman: Part II (October 1, 2027)
Before a new Batman is chosen for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s revamped DC Universe, Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as the Dark Knight. Pattinson’s Batman, which premiered in 2022, offered a darker and more realistic take on the character, fighting crime in Gotham City against villains like the Riddler and the Penguin. Production on *The Batman: Part II* is now underway at DC Studios, with a planned release date of October 1, 2027. This sequel is the next installment in Matt Reeves’ separate DC Elseworlds series.
6) Dynamic Duo (June 30, 2028)
As a huge DC fan, I’m really excited about this new animated movie, *Dynamic Duo*! It’s going to focus on the early adventures of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd as Robin, showing what it was like when they were Batman’s sidekicks. Arthur Mintz, from Swaybox, is directing, and it’s currently slated for release on June 30, 2028. What’s especially cool is they’re using a mix of CGI and stop-motion animation – it sounds like a really innovative project. Matt Reeves is producing, but don’t worry, it won’t tie into his *Batman* saga; this is a separate story all its own.
5) Harley Quinn Season 6 (TBD)
I’m so thrilled with how amazing the *Harley Quinn* animated series has become since it started in 2019! Season 5 just wrapped up in March 2025, and thankfully, *People* magazine reported we’re getting a sixth season! The showrunner, Dean Lorey, told *Collider* they definitely want to continue the story and even have a fantastic idea for what Season 6 could be. I’m especially excited because the show pairs Harley with Poison Ivy in these adventures that have a really sweet romantic connection, and I can’t wait to see where that goes!
4) Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 (TBD)
Premiering on Prime Video in August 2024, Batman: Caped Crusader offers a more realistic and intricate take on the Dark Knight in animated form. Originally passed over by HBO Max in 2022, the series found a new home on Amazon in March 2023, and was quickly renewed for a second season. Following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, James Tucker is now solely leading the second season after Ed Brubaker’s exit. While details about season 2 are scarce, it will likely continue the show’s exploration of a grittier, more mysterious Batman and his detective work in Gotham City.
3) The Batman: Part III (TBD)
Although *The Batman: Part II* is scheduled for 2027, director Matt Reeves is already planning a third movie. *The Batman* was always envisioned as the beginning of a three-film series. We can expect to see Robert Pattinson as Batman, along with Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred, return for *The Batman: Part III*. However, it will probably be quite a while before production even starts. There will be five years between the first *Batman* film and *Part II*, and with another Batman movie planned for the DC Universe, *Part III* might not be released for even longer.
2) More The Batman Spinoffs (TBD)
The world of Batman is expanding beyond movies and into television. Following the success of *The Penguin* on HBO Max in 2024, DC is planning more spin-off series based on *The Batman*. While a second season of *The Penguin* is a possibility, other shows focusing on villains like Scarecrow and Professor Pyg are also being considered. Although series about the Gotham City Police Department and Arkham Asylum won’t continue, several other projects are still in development.
1) The Brave and the Bold (TBD)
Originally revealed by James Gunn in January 2023 as part of the DCU plans, *The Brave and the Bold* will officially bring Bruce Wayne’s Batman and his son Damian’s Robin into the new DC Universe. We’ve already seen a quick look at Batman in *Creature Commandos*, but his full live-action introduction is still upcoming, and the actor who will play him hasn’t been announced yet. While *The Flash* director Andy Muschietti was previously considered as a potential director, that’s now uncertain, and a writer was reportedly working on the project as of February 2025.
Fans are thrilled that *The Brave and the Bold* will officially integrate Batman into the DC Universe with characters like Superman (David Corenswet), Peacemaker (John Cena), and Supergirl (Milly Alcock). While the movie promises a bright future for the Caped Crusader, production is still in early stages – the script isn’t finished yet, and there’s no release date. Many fans have suggested actors like Alan Ritchson, Jensen Ackles, Brandon Sklenar, and Glen Powell to play Batman, but it will likely be a while before the official casting is announced.
