Halo: Combat Evolved appears to be only the beginning for Halo on PlayStation consoles. The developers at Halo Studios have confirmed that more Halo games will be released on PlayStation 5 and other PlayStation platforms in the future.
During the livestream of the Halo World Championship, PlayStation community director Brian Jarrad made a statement while wearing a PlayStation t-shirt. According to Gematsu, he said:
This is a really big moment that we’ve been working towards for a long time. We’re thrilled to bring Halo to even more players and share the same love for the franchise that we’ve had for the past 24 years. As someone deeply involved with the Halo community, I know everyone is eager to welcome new players – it simply means more people can enjoy Halo. This marks a new chapter, with Halo now available on PlayStation, beginning with Halo: Combat Evolved.
It’s unclear if Halo Studios is planning to remake or re-release existing Halo games, or create entirely new ones. However, whatever they’re working on appears to be coming to PlayStation 5, in addition to Xbox and PC. With nearly four years since the release of Halo Infinite, fans can likely expect a new Halo game soon, and it sounds like it will be available on PS5.
Jarrad confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that Halo: Combat Evolved will arrive on PlayStation 5 in 2026, the same day it releases on other platforms. He promised more details will be revealed soon and encouraged fans to add the game to their wishlists. He finished with a quote from Master Chief: ‘I think we’re just getting started.’
The first Halo game is being rebuilt for PlayStation, starting with a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved in 2026. This version will feature completely updated graphics, enhanced gameplay, and a refreshed soundtrack with new voice acting. While the original multiplayer won’t be included, fans will get three new missions that take place before the events of the first game.
