Remedy Entertainment, the team behind FBC: Firebreak, is making significant updates to the co-op shooter. These changes include a complete rework of how players progress and earn in-game items, a simpler currency system, and the removal of the ability to upgrade gear.
Tomorrow‘s update will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s changing how players get new weapons and gear – everything you unlock will be fully powered from the start, removing the need for upgrades. Plus, all extra abilities, including Altered Augments and Improvised Devices (previously found in Crisis Kits), will be immediately available to all players.
Players can still improve their Crisis Kits to add more Perk slots, letting them customize their gameplay even further. As you play, you’ll naturally unlock guns, grenades, weapon attachments, and basic Perks by increasing your Reputation. We’re also increasing the Reputation cap to 200.
We’re simplifying how currencies work! Instead of things like Lost Assets and Research Samples, we’re introducing four new currencies: Parts, Samples, Intel, and Trace. Parts, Samples, and Intel will function similarly to the old Lost Assets, while Trace is unique. You’ll use these currencies to unlock cosmetic items with Requisitions and to upgrade your Perks from level 1 to 3. Completing Jobs will earn you one of the new Lost Asset currencies (Parts, Samples, or Intel), and harder Jobs will give you more. Stronger enemies, however, can drop any of the four currencies, no matter what Job you’re doing.
Trace is mainly earned by defeating tough enemies and is used to unlock exclusive, high-level cosmetic items through Requisition. You can also occasionally get Trace from destroyed Corrupted items. Both of the new currencies are only obtainable if your team successfully completes a mission, but any rewards earned are shared with everyone in the group, even those who didn’t make it out alive.
We’re making a big change to how Perks work with weapons in FBC: Firebreak. Instead of being Perks, these benefits will now be part of the new gun modification system. We’ll share more details about the gun mods feature as we get closer to releasing the update.
If you’ve been playing *FBC: Firebreak*, you’ll keep your current Reputation and Crisis kit levels after the update. All the guns, grenades, and cosmetic items you’ve unlocked will remain available. Players who have reached higher levels will instantly unlock new gear, weapons, weapon modifications, and Perks. Any currencies you’ve saved up won’t be lost; they’ll be automatically converted into the new currency system.
