Limited Run Games and Implicit Conversions are releasing a version of the PlayStation 1 adventure game, Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, and it will be available very shortly.
Coming to PS5 and PS4, the game launches on 27th February 2026, as announced recently on socials:
Since the first game was successfully updated for current systems last year, releasing the sequel now is a logical next step.
This port of Fear Effect 2 was actually announced a few months ago, when this trailer was revealed:
As a fan, it seems like they’ve taken the classic sci-fi adventure and given it a nice update! It’s not a huge overhaul, but they’ve added some really welcome features like being able to save anywhere, rewind if you mess up, and play it in widescreen – stuff that makes the experience so much better.
Fear Effect 2 is a story that takes place before the events of the original game. Players will guide mercenaries working towards the same objective, overcoming challenges with a mix of fighting and puzzle-solving. A special feature of the game is that your character’s performance in combat is linked to their heart rate.
Are you looking forward to this game’s release? Will you be playing it on PlayStation 5 later this month? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
