Feature: 15 PS5 Games from Last Week’s Livestreams We Can’t Wait to Play

With so many fantastic PS5 games revealed during recent livestreams, there’s more to play than most people could ever finish.

We could have easily listed three or four times as many games we’re excited about, but we decided to focus on the 15 that genuinely got us really enthusiastic. It was hard to narrow it down, though!

Let’s take a look at the games that stood out to us. Don’t forget to share your own favorites in the comments!

Alien Isolation 2

This review is based on potential, as the trailer for Alien: Isolation 2 didn’t reveal much. However, the original game is still amazing after over ten years, and I’m hoping the sequel brings that same thrilling experience to the PS5. – Liam

Bancho the Chef

I was really excited to see a Bancho-focused prequel to Dave the Diver! Bancho is already a fan-favorite character, and the announcement trailer looked fantastic. It promises the same blend of fun cooking gameplay and unexpected twists that made the original so great. While it might not be the biggest game announcement lately, I’m confident it’s going to be a lot of fun. – Stephen

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the DMZ gameplay shown for Modern Warfare 4 during the Xbox Showcase. I haven’t been a fan of recent Call of Duty games, but this extraction mode feels like exactly the kind of immersive multiplayer experience I love, and I’m excited to play it with friends. – Aaron

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

As long-time readers know, I’ve been critical of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. However, the recent reveal of the next installment really impressed me, despite my ongoing concerns about the story and pacing. The promise of more open gameplay and improved systems has me hopeful that this game will finally prove the Remake concept works. I’m even considering replaying the previous two games to prepare! Square Enix, you’ve got my attention this time. – Rob

Gen Atlas

I have complete faith in Fumito Ueda, the creative force behind some of PlayStation’s most beloved games. I’m excited for anything he creates, and that definitely includes his new action-adventure game, Gen Atlas, which features massive robots. While details are still limited, the atmosphere and world shown in the Summer Game Fest trailer are incredibly intriguing. I’m really looking forward to exploring the game’s landscape, controlling those huge robots, and discovering its secrets—even if it runs at 27 frames per second. That’s just how Ueda makes games. – Stephen

God of War Laufey

Many fans, including myself, are thrilled about the announcement of the new God of War game, focusing on Laufey. After the incredible Norse adventures with Kratos, the idea of exploring Faye’s fate and what happens to gods and magical creatures after death is incredibly compelling. I’m eager for a faster-paced, visually stunning action game, and the 20-minute preview left me with a lot of unanswered questions that I’m excited to discover. [Stephen]

Gundam Rogue Orbit

The initial trailer for Gundam Rogue Orbit didn’t immediately feel like a classic Gundam experience, aside from the V-shaped head design, and that actually makes the game more interesting. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a high-quality Gundam game, and I’m really looking forward to learning more about this fast-paced action title. I’m curious about the game’s scale, its story, and what ‘Rogue Orbit’ refers to. Finally, Gundam fans like myself have something new to anticipate. [Rob]

Marvel’s Wolverine

I’m surprised to see some negativity towards Marvel’s Wolverine, considering Insomniac’s track record. I don’t expect a revolutionary game, but I do anticipate a fun, comic book-style adventure – and Insomniac has consistently delivered those for years. The gameplay looks great, with fluid movement and combat. Plus, after enjoying the recent 007 First Light, I’m excited for another focused, single-player story – which is exactly what many Sony fans have been wanting.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

As a longtime fan of Onimusha, I was excited when the series was revived, but the recent State of Play presentation has made me even more eager to play. It wasn’t just the trailer—the release of a playable demo for PlayStation 5 really blew me away. I’ve already played the demo five times, and I’m incredibly hyped for the full game. – Rob

Resident Evil Veronica

I spent my childhood playing Resident Evil games on the PlayStation 1 and 2, specifically Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Code Veronica – those are the ones I remember most. So, I’m really thrilled to see Code Veronica being remade for the PS5. It seems Capcom is giving themselves a lot of freedom with this new version, meaning it probably won’t be a strict recreation of the original. But it’s still a Resident Evil game, and that’s enough to get me hyped! – Liam

The Lost Wild

The biggest surprise from the recent State of Play presentation for me was definitely The Lost Wild, a first-person horror game featuring dinosaurs. I haven’t learned much about it yet, but honestly, that’s okay – dinosaurs and horror already have me hooked! – Aaron

The Wolf Among Us 2

Many fans, like me, began to worry that The Wolf Among Us 2 might be canceled, especially since it was announced so long ago – eight years, in fact. Plus, most of the people who originally worked on the game are no longer involved. But despite that, I’m still really excited about returning to Bill Willingham’s fascinating world and playing as Sheriff Bigby Wolf, solving mysteries and embracing my inner wolf! – Aaron

Silent Hill: Townfall

With the recent releases of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill F, the Silent Hill series is making a strong comeback. The new installment, Silent Hill: Townfall, is taking a fresh, experimental approach while maintaining the series’ signature suspense. This time, the game is played from a first-person perspective and set in Scotland, but it promises to deliver the same chilling atmosphere fans love. I predict it will be another standout title. [Liam]

Stuntman: Hollywood

I loved the original Stuntman on PlayStation 2, so I’m really excited Saber is bringing it back. Updating the gameplay was all it needed, and linking it with popular licenses like Back to the Future and Knight Rider is a brilliant idea. Being able to recreate iconic movie and TV scenes from our childhoods sounds like a blast. It’s such an obvious game to make, I’m surprised it’s taken so long!

Virtua Fighter Crossroads

As a longtime fan of the Shenmue series, Virtua Fighter has always been important to my gaming experience. The creator of Shenmue, Yu Suzuki, originally planned Ryo Hazuki’s story as a role-playing game based on Virtua Fighter, and the new game, Crossroads – developed by RGG Studio – seems to be bringing that original idea to life. While the fighting looks great, it’s the large, single-player adventure that really excites me. I enjoyed the World Tour mode in Street Fighter 6, and this looks like an even more impressive version, created by a team known for writing and pacing captivating stories.
