Fetty Wap has been released from prison early.
Fetty Wap, the rapper known for his hit “Trap Queen,” was released from prison on January 8th after serving nearly three years of a six-year sentence for federal drug charges, his representatives told Billboard.
Fetty Wap (born Willie Junior Maxwell II) expressed his gratitude to his family, friends, and fans for their ongoing support and well wishes. He shared that he’s now concentrating on giving back to his community through programs focused on helping young people. This includes expanding access to education, technology training, and vision care, so kids and students have the resources they need to succeed.
The 34-year-old stated they are dedicated to continuing with clear goals and making a real difference in important areas.
He also confirmed the news on his Instagram Stories, simply writing, “HOME.”
In October 2021, Fetty Wap was arrested for selling drugs, like cocaine and heroin, in Long Island and New Jersey. He later admitted to conspiring to distribute cocaine and pleaded guilty in August 2022.
The rapper known as “679” was sentenced to six years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. He was held at a low-security facility in Sandstone, Minnesota, and is now scheduled to be released on November 8th, according to records from the Bureau of Prisons obtained by TopMob News.
During his sentencing hearing in 2023, Fetty publicly apologized for his actions.

He stated, according to NBC News, that he deeply regrets his actions and the harm they caused to his community, his family, those who admire him, and himself. He expressed sincere apologies for the pain he inflicted.
Just two months before his arrest, Fetty Wap was grieving the loss of his four-year-old daughter, Lauren Maxwell, whom he shared with Turquoise Miami.
While on Instagram Live, the rapper known for “My Way” kissed a photo of his daughter and asked fans to fill the comments with butterfly emojis, explaining it was something she really enjoyed.
“If you could do that,” Fetty said in a clip of the Live. “That would mean a lot to me.”
