New set photos reveal the first look at Stephen Amell in Fox’s closely-watched Baywatch reboot.
News came out this February that the planned reboot of the popular 1990s TV show Baywatch was moving forward with the casting of actor Amell – known for his work on Arrow and Heels – as Hobie Buchannon, the son of David Hasselhoff’s original character, Mitch Buchannon.
Just Jared has published new photos from the upcoming Baywatch reboot, giving us a first look at Robbie Amell as Hobie. One photo shows the actor walking on the beach in bright red swim trunks with a lifeguard emblem – a nod to the original series. He looks concentrated while the film crew prepares for a scene around him.
A new photo shows Robbie Amell with his Baywatch castmates – model Brooks Nader and TikTok personality Noah Beck – all wearing matching red swimsuits. They’re on a sunny beach, surrounded by the film crew who are getting them ready to shoot a scene, with the ocean visible in the background.
The new version of the show features returning cast members Beck, known for his work on the Sidelined films, and Nader, alongside newcomers Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Shay Mitchell, Livvy Dunne, and David Chokachi, who is reprising his role as Cody Madison from the original series. Matt Nix, an executive producer on Burn Notice, created the reboot, and McG directed the first episode.

The upcoming Baywatch series, with 12 episodes, will premiere on Fox later this year. It centers around Hobie, a spirited Baywatch Captain, who is determined to live up to his famous father, Mitch. However, his life changes when his daughter, Charlie (Belkin), arrives hoping to carry on the Buchannon family tradition.
This new version of the show will bring back the thrilling rescues, complicated relationships, and heroic action on the beach that fans loved from the original. It features a fresh, new cast wearing the famous red swimsuits, while also adding contemporary storylines and challenges, all set against the backdrop of Southern California’s beautiful coastline.
The new series is a collaboration between Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, with Greg Nix and McG serving as executive producers, alongside Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz. This is Amell’s second major reboot after starring in NBC’s short-lived legal drama, Suits: LA. Unlike previous versions, this Baywatch reboot could prioritize developing a diverse supporting cast.
