Fixed Animator Pulls Back From The Internet Following Death Threats

After lingering in the wings for years, the animated film “Fixed” recently premiered on Netflix – a long-cherished goal of Genndy Tartakovsky’s. Initially, Warner Bros decided not to release this rough-hewn movie, but Netflix came to the rescue and offered another chance for Bull and his nighttime escapades. In a surprising turn of events, an artist who contributed to the movie creation is facing controversy, leading them to retreat from social media following threats on their life due to their work on the film. The animator has since issued a statement about this decision.

On his Instagram, animator Uli Meyer posted a message along with a vivid picture of Bull from the movie. He disclosed that he was under a harassment campaign and would not proceed with posting the rest of the animation he had been working on for Fixed. “I’m temporarily halting my posts of the remaining Fixed animation,” Meyer wrote, expressing gratitude for all the positive comments. However, some individuals seemed unusually upset, leading him to block them. While it may not appeal to everyone’s taste, he requested that people stay calm, assuring there was no need for alarm as nothing life-threatening was involved. A snapshot of his social media post can be found below.

The Fixed Controversy

As an observer, I must admit that the animated film I witnessed was quite raw and undeniably deserved its R-rating. It’s not alone in this category, as other animated productions have also ventured into mature territory. Interestingly, the creators of this movie, led by Genndy Tartakovsky, drew inspiration from earlier works such as the uncensored Nickelodeon series “Ren & Stimpy” that surprisingly aired on their children’s network in the 90s. To be fair, this new creation surpasses its supposed predecessor in terms of explicit content. However, Genndy has expressed his desire to delve deeper into adult animation in the future. Here’s hoping that the current response doesn’t discourage these talented animators from further exploring the intricacies of this universe.

Recently, we at egmr.ru had a chat with Tartakovsky about the movie “Fixed”. He expressed his feelings about the film’s long-awaited release: “It feels absolutely amazing! We’ve screened the movie multiple times and critically, it’s been well received. I wasn’t fully aware of how shocking it might be to some viewers, so it may not appeal to everyone. However, there’s a significant group of people who are embracing it and seeking something unique. Every time I create something fresh, it’s an extraordinary experience. To finally bring this project to life after seventeen years is just incredible, and the surreal aspect of it all adds to the excitement.

In a conversation, Genndy Tartakovsky expressed his thoughts on the growth of adult animation, stating, “The market for children’s animation is significantly shrinking, but adult animation has been thriving over the past two decades.” He further added, “It’s astonishing to witness this transformation, and it seems that all the innovative shows cater more towards adults. I aim to expand this concept into feature-length animated films. Why should adult viewers not enjoy animated movies just as they do live-action ones? While an R-rated, comedic production is acceptable, perhaps we can create action-packed, epic features in the future.” Tartakovsky’s successful creation of “Primal” demonstrated his capability to produce such content, and he emphasized the importance of sincerity to ensure success. He explained, “If I’m not genuine, it won’t work. If there’s a particular emotion or experience I want to express, that’s where I stand.
