Epic Games is kicking off 2026 in style with Fortnite’s first major content update of the year.
Okay, I’m SO hyped! This update is massive – we’re finally getting that crossover everyone’s been talking about for ages. It’s not just a little thing either; expect tons of new skins, items, and even changes to the map itself. It’s going to be epic!

Fortnite update today (9th January): What changes in the patch notes?
Today’s Fortnite update brings us the long-awaited South Park crossover.
Players can explore the new South Park Mini Battle Pass to unlock a variety of exclusive cosmetic items.
South Park is coming to the game with confirmed skins for Kyle, Stan, Kenny, Cartman, and Butters – each getting a unique mech skin. Players can also expect additional cosmetic items to unlock.
The map is being updated for the event, and the Wonkeeland location will be transformed into Cartmanland.

Okay, so the biggest news about new gear has to be this ‘Stick of Truth’ Mythic weapon. Honestly, we don’t really know what it does yet, but it’s definitely got everyone talking!
The game will also include other items from South Park, like Cheesy Poofs, which were featured in the game’s preview trailer.
I’m so hyped for the new Rift Anomaly they’re adding – it’s called ‘Everyone Kills Kenny’! Sounds wild, and I can’t wait to jump in and see what it’s all about.
In addition to the South Park additions, reliable sources like Fortnite Leaks X suggest we’ll also get an update to Blitz mode with a new map, a refreshed selection of loot in Reload, and some returning weapons.
The Item Shop is getting an update with new cosmetic items! You’ll find new pet companions called Sidekicks, music tracks (Jam Tracks), expressive emotes (Icon Series), vehicle customizations (Car Bodies and Kicks), and a variety of new Bundles.
