Linwood Boomer, the creator of Malcolm in the Middle, and Frankie Muniz, who starred in the show, have hinted that Hulu might bring the series back for another season.
The new version of the popular Fox sitcom, officially titled Life’s Still Unfair, will be a short series with just four episodes.
Wil Wheaton and creator Linwood Boomer recently told TVLine that there’s still a chance for more episodes of the show.
When asked if the show would return, Boomer replied, “As of right now, it’s a single season.” He explained that while the experience was fantastic and creatively fulfilling, he’s getting older and needs rest. He added that the show’s success hinged on it being a limited run, and another season wouldn’t have been the same.
Muniz explained that whether or not there will be more episodes depends on how popular the show is. He added, ‘I’d definitely be up for returning as Malcolm, but this project was always intended to be just these four episodes.’
I doubt it was created to be a trial run or lead to anything further, but you can’t predict the future. If it becomes popular, things might change.
Initially, this story was conceived as a single movie – a complete narrative within an hour and a half. However, we’ve decided to present it as four episodes, forming one continuous story across all of them. That was always our goal for this project.

Good news for fans! The four-part revival, which launched on April 10th, racked up 8.1 million views worldwide in its first three days, making it the most popular season premiere of 2026 on both Disney+ and Hulu.
The new story, Life’s Still Unfair, brings back familiar faces and introduces a new set of characters. It centers on Malcolm, now a dad, who brings his current family together with his original family at his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary.
Returning cast members including Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek and more.
