A documentary called ‘Freddie Mercury: A Secret Daughter?’ will be broadcast tonight on Channel 5, following reports of the death of a person believed to be the Queen singer’s secret child.
The documentary originally appeared in 2025, presenting new and interesting information about Freddie Mercury. This followed a biography that suggested Mercury had a child out of wedlock in 1976, conceived during an affair with a close friend’s wife.
The documentary includes insights from Freddie Mercury’s biographer, Lesley-Ann Jones, who explores the possibility that he secretly had a child in the 1970s and kept it hidden from his friends and family.
Freddie Mercury: A Secret Daughter? will air on Friday 16th January at 10pm on 5.
Lesley-Ann Jones, who wrote the book Love, Freddie, recently told The Telegraph that she suspected the subject of her book might not live to see it released. She called it a miracle that she did.
She’d been cancer-free for years after battling a rare spinal tumor called chordoma. But she always suspected it might return, and unfortunately, it did.
She reached out to me because of her illness, wanting to share Freddie’s story. It wasn’t about money – she didn’t offer any, and I wouldn’t have taken it. Her only goal was to restore her father’s reputation, showing the whole truth, even the difficult parts.

In her biography, Love, Freddie, the woman known as ‘Bibi’ to Freddie Mercury (according to the Daily Mail) revealed that Freddie Mercury was her father. She described a very close and loving relationship with him that lasted throughout the final fifteen years of his life.
He loved me deeply and was completely dedicated to my well-being. My birth story is definitely unconventional, perhaps even shocking to some. But that didn’t matter to him. He always loved and cared for me unconditionally, and treasured me as if I were something precious.
Some people are questioning whether Freddie Mercury had a secret child. Mary Austin, a close friend, doesn’t believe he would have kept such happy news hidden, telling The Sunday Times she thinks he would have shared it with those closest to him, including herself.
The woman, whose identity is anonymised, died at the age of 48 after a long battle with cancer.
B’s husband shared with the Daily Mail that she has passed away and is now at peace. He described her as being reunited with her father in spirit, and said her ashes were scattered over the Alps.
She is survived by her husband and their two sons.
Freddie Mercury: A Secret Daughter? airs on Friday 16th January at 10pm on 5.
