Free Gran Turismo 7 Update Adds Everything from Supercars to a Twingo

Sony’s approach to ongoing live services has had varying degrees of success. However, no matter how Sony categorizes Gran Turismo 7, the game continues to receive exceptional and consistent support.

A major update is coming this week for the racing simulator, featuring three new cars, a special collection to complete in the Café, and fresh content for the Power Pack expansion.

First and foremost, here are the new cars:

  • Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau (964) ’93
  • Renault Twingo ’93
  • Yangwang U9 ’24

It’s great that Gran Turismo still includes both regular, everyday cars and the amazing, high-end vehicles most people can only dream of owning.

Besides the new Café menu and World Circuit events, we’re particularly excited about an update to the Power Pack expansion.

Here’s how brand manager David Robinson explains the new feature:

We’re adding Power Pack Challenges! These challenges reward you for completing races within a set timeframe. Rewards will change every week, and you can track your progress on the World Map or by checking the event details in the top-right corner of the Event Select screen.

Just a heads-up: you’ll need the Power Pack DLC to participate in these challenges. This seems like Polyphony Digital’s way of encouraging players to keep coming back – a common strategy for games that are regularly updated, even though Sony doesn’t officially call Gran Turismo a ‘live service’ game.

Many players are upset that the company isn’t directly updating Gran Turismo 7 to work with PlayStation Spectral Reconstruction 2 (PSSR2), especially since the current system-level setting seems to have some issues.

Let’s hope a fix comes out quickly, as this is a beautiful game on the PS5 and should look its best on Sony’s powerful console.
