Free PS5 Content Update Hands Nioh 3 a New Lease of Life

Team Ninja has announced a free update for Nioh 3, arriving on April 27th, 2026, which will add new features and improve gameplay, giving players a reason to revisit the game.

Team Ninja is making their challenging action RPG even harder by adding new, very difficult ‘Battle Scrolls’. Players can also earn a new currency called ‘Stone of Penance’ to improve their gear. Completing these challenging scrolls unlocks powerful new skills.

I’m really excited about the new PS5 patch! Besides all the fresh stuff they’re adding, they’re also tweaking the balance to make certain abilities – or ‘Graces’ as we call them – even better. It sounds like some of my favorites are getting a boost, which is awesome!

Kohei Shibata, a producer on the game, announced on the official website that Team Ninja is still developing the two previously announced expansions for Nioh 3. He began by thanking players worldwide for their support since the game’s release, and confirmed that the team is actively working on future updates and downloadable content.

The first downloadable content pack, called Hell Rising, is scheduled for release in September 2026. The second pack, Hell Insurrection, will follow sometime before the end of February 2027.

When Nioh 3 came out earlier this year, it was the easiest game in the series to pick up and play. Now, more difficult side quests are available for players who want a greater challenge.
