Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’s Real World Event Brings Tears to Voice Actors’ Eyes

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has quickly become a very popular new anime. Created by Studio Madhouse, the show about the immortal elf already has two seasons, with a third one planned. To celebrate its success, a special event was held at Universal Studios Japan, and the voice actors who play Frieren and Himmel recently visited. They’ve now shared their experiences with the event.

Atsumi Tanezaki, who voices Frieren in the Japanese version of the anime, recently visited a real-life exhibit based on the series. She was deeply touched by the experience, especially when seeing recreations of key moments, like the rock Fern shot an arrow through and Frieren’s magical flower field – it almost made her cry! Nobuhiko Okamoto, the voice of Himmel, had a similar reaction. He was overwhelmed by how accurately the exhibit captured the anime’s world, and seeing a life-sized Stark felt incredibly real. He was especially moved by Himmel’s statue and the beautiful flower field, admitting he almost cried from the sheer beauty of it all.

Frieren Is Taking Over

The new Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End attraction opens at Universal Studios Japan on May 30th. Anime fans can enjoy it until January 11th of next year. While it’s currently only available in Japan, there’s hope it might come to North America. Last year, popular anime attractions like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen were brought to Universal parks in the West, showing there’s definitely interest in this type of experience.

As fans eagerly await the third season of the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime, the manga it’s based on is currently on hold due to health problems with its creators. Writer Kanehito Yamada and artist Tsukasa Abe are focusing on their recovery, and there’s no confirmed date for when the manga will resume. We wish them both a speedy recovery.
