Harold Perrineau, a star of the show, has addressed concerns from fans who believed it was cancelled after five seasons.
Last week, MGM+ announced that its horror series, starring Perrineau as Sheriff Boyd Stevens, will return for a fifth and final season. The show centers around a group of people trapped in a terrifying small town plagued by nighttime monsters.
I was really disappointed to hear the show, which has been the network’s biggest hit ever, won’t be coming back after season 5. A lot of fans online feel the same way, and there’s been a lot of upset about it.
A fan expressed disappointment on X (formerly Twitter) about the cancellation of “FROM” after its fifth season, calling it a highly-rated show that shouldn’t be ending. They lamented the current state of Hollywood, suggesting even good shows aren’t safe from cancellation. The fan also praised Harold Perrineau and his acting generation, referencing a fellow actor from “Oz” as an example, and shared how much they enjoyed watching them both grow up in the industry.
Perrineau explained in a tweet that they aim to create the best possible adaptation, and believe five seasons will allow them to do so.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s creator, John Griffin, explained that the decision to end the series after five seasons was always the plan.
We originally planned for five seasons, but we wanted the story to naturally reach its conclusion, so we always said the ending would depend on where the narrative took us.
He explained that finishing season three, especially with Jim’s death (played by Eion Bailey), marked a significant turning point – like completing the first phase of the story.
Season 4 really feels like we’re starting the final chapter, and honestly, it feels right. We’ve been so lucky to tell this story exactly how we envisioned it from the very beginning, and Michael Wright and the whole team at MGM really believed in us. It’s not often you get to create something like this and give it the space it needs to breathe, to let the story unfold naturally and end when it’s ready. I’m incredibly proud of that.
