Look, game bugs are the worst, right? Sometimes they just make a game lag or crash, which is annoying. But the really bad ones? Those are the ones that can actually mess up your progress, like deleting all your in-game money. Talk about a rage quit moment!
What started as a celebratory week for game developer Gryphline has quickly become a crisis. A recent error with PayPal in their new game is causing players to have money unexpectedly taken from their accounts, even if they didn’t make any purchases.
Yeah.
Many Reddit users have reported a bug where they were unexpectedly charged large amounts of money – in some cases, thousands of dollars. Fortunately, it appears refunds are being issued quickly.
Gryphline has quickly responded to a problem and is asking players to avoid using PayPal for in-game purchases until the issue is resolved. They’ve also stated that any unusual transactions – like items not being delivered or incorrect charges – will be investigated and dealt with.
Customers should receive refunds quickly, but they might need to verify their identity with their bank, and could potentially be charged a fee. The whole situation is quite problematic.
Just a heads-up: purchases made on the PS5 version of the game go through PlayStation Network, which is generally secure. Keep this in mind if you also play on PC or mobile, as your progress carries over between all platforms.
Look, as a fan, I’m really worried about this getting out there. It’s the last thing we need right before the game launches, and honestly, it could make people lose faith in the whole release if it spreads. It’s just not a good look!
The developer will need to work extra hours to regain trust, but thankfully they reacted quickly enough to stop the problem from becoming much more serious.
