People still love stories told in installments, but they’ve been wanting something new – like compelling superhero characters, more frequent releases, and gameplay that lets you manage and build things.
Dispatch, created by the team at AdHoc Studio who previously worked at Telltale Games, quickly became a contender for Game of the Year. Released on October 22nd and concluding on November 12th, it stands out thanks to its striking art style – a blend of Westerns and anime – strong voice performances, and compelling gameplay centered around impactful choices.
This excellent eight-episode series centers around Robert, a relatable pilot of Mecha Man, brought to life by Aaron Paul’s voice acting. The story begins with Robert unexpectedly leading a team of former villains at the superhero agency, SDN, and quickly launches into a fast-paced, unpredictable adventure.
You’ll primarily enjoy beautifully animated scenes and make choices that affect how the story unfolds.
You’ll also manage city-wide events by assigning your team of former villains to handle different problems as they arise, carefully choosing who’s best suited for each situation.
The game keeps things interesting by constantly mixing things up – it changes the rules when you start to get the hang of them, and applies just the right amount of challenge to keep it feeling new. The story will progress no matter what, but completing a successful task is really satisfying.
Throughout the story, you’ll become captivated by the diverse and surprisingly complex characters. Everything, from the visual design to the acting, is flawlessly executed, and you’ll be left wanting more when it ends.
Dispatch is a standout game of 2025. It builds on the familiar Telltale style of gameplay, adding impressive visuals and expanding the experience in a really engaging way.
If you enjoy comic books, superhero films, or simply a well-told story, you should definitely check this out.
