The BBC has announced a new audio drama, which will reunite three stars from Game of Thrones.
Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), and Hannah Waddingham (Septa Unella) are joining the cast of ‘Intimacy,’ a new audio drama from the production company Merman, known for the show ‘Bad Sisters’.
Lena Headey wrote and directed the series, and stars alongside Alison Steadman (known from Gavin & Stacey), Thaddea Graham (from Margo’s Got Money Troubles), Matthew Broome (The Buccaneers), and Tom Goodman-Hill (Two Weeks in August).
Listeners can enjoy the complete series all at once when it becomes available on BBC Sounds’ Arc podcast feed on July 22nd. It will also be broadcast on BBC Radio 4, starting July 27th, at 11 PM on Mondays. The BBC has described the series as “gripping.”

The series centers around intimacy coordinator Liza Simmons (Headey). In her job, she creates a secure environment on set, champions consent, and supports actors through challenging scenes.
Liza’s professional life seems stable, but her personal life is chaotic, especially with her mother’s struggles with alcohol. As a divorced actress and single mom, Liza is deeply in debt and struggling to make ends meet. That’s why she’s overjoyed when her agent offers her a role in a high-profile movie filming on a beautiful Greek island.
I have to say, what starts as a seemingly perfect gig – working closely with talents like Williams and Broome – quickly turns sour for our protagonist, Liza. She soon discovers the director, Goodman-Hill, isn’t just a professional acquaintance, but someone from her past she holds responsible for a major personal setback. It’s a classic setup for dramatic tension, and it immediately throws a wrench into what could have been a smooth production.
Filming becomes chaotic as professional lines blur and control changes hands, leaving Liza feeling alone except for Kate, a fellow crew member. As the situation deteriorates, Liza must choose between risking her career by voicing her concerns or remaining quiet and sacrificing her own sense of self.

Lena Headey shared that working on ‘Intimacy’ with the cast and crew was a wonderful experience. She enjoyed the creative challenge of telling Liza’s story through audio and is thrilled for audiences to discover it.
Sharon Horgan, who co-founded Merman, also said that Lena has made something truly unique, and the fantastic cast has really brought it to life. She’s excited for people to start listening to Intimacy.
Audio dramas really draw you into a character’s thoughts and feelings, making them ideal for telling stories about the difficult emotions and moral choices we face in our private lives.
You can hear ‘Intimacy’ on BBC Radio 4 starting Monday, July 27th at 11pm. All episodes will also be released as a complete series on BBC Sounds and the Arc podcast feed from July 22nd.
