A new show on CBeebies will feature the charming hand-knitted frogs created by Holger Auffenberg, the winner of ‘Game of Wool.’ TopMob is excited to share a sneak peek trailer!
This live-action puppet show, narrated by comedian Sue Perkins, tells the story of three frog friends created by Auffenberg as they experience everyday life together in a typical house.
The trailer reveals the frogs having a lot of fun while the house is empty – they dress up in clothes, pitch a tent in the garden, and even have a dance party!
The video also shows Bertie the dog, and it looks like he’ll be tagging along with the frogs on their journeys.
The show, developed by Massimo Fenati and ordered by Rai Kids in Italy, was first revealed in March.
Fenati explained in a statement that many modern toys come with detailed instructions, leaving little space for a child’s imagination. He created the show hoping to encourage kids to be more creative and use their imaginations.
“And who could be best to front a show of this kind than three charming frogs made of wool?”

The project really came to life thanks to a fantastic team: Holger Auffenberg, who skillfully crafted the puppets, a talented group of puppeteers who brought them to life, a dedicated production crew, and the wonderful Sue Perkins who narrated the story. Making it was a joy and reminded me of happy times from my childhood.
Auffenberg described working on ‘Froglets’ as a truly happy and rewarding experience. He began creating the characters right after finishing ‘The Game of Wool’ and enjoyed fully losing himself in their world and how they connect with our own.
Creating all the costumes was a lot of detailed work, but it was a fashion designer’s dream! I wasn’t limited by typical constraints and got to experiment with my process in completely new and fun ways – especially to fit the ‘froggy’ theme!
He added that the project felt genuinely good to work on, and he believed the passion for the work and the endearing quality of the plants were clearly visible in the finished result.
I’m really excited about this project! Tess Cuming is heading things up as an executive producer, and Riccardo Mastropietro is directing and producing all the episodes – he’s really taking the creative lead, which is fantastic.
Froglets will air on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
