Brian Fleming, co-founder of Sucker Punch Productions, has addressed the dismissal of Drew Harrison, an ex-employee who made social media posts about the attempted assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Speaking to Game File in a new interview, Fleming said the following:
Drew is no longer working with us. As a studio, we strongly condemn celebrating or making jokes about someone’s murder – it’s something we absolutely won’t tolerate. That’s a core value for us, and we want to be clear about where we stand.
Stephen Totilo, who conducted the interview, pressed further, asking how someone’s decade of work at the company could be compared to a single social media post. However, Sony declined to comment further on the issue, according to a representative present.
With the upcoming PS5 release of Ghost of Yotei on October 2nd, 2025, the development studio has faced online controversy due to comments made by Harrison. He posted a message referencing Luigi Mangione, who killed Brian Thompson, stating, “I hope the shooter’s name is Mario so that Luigi knows his brother has his back.” This comment sparked significant discussion on social media.
Harrison, a Senior Staff Character Artist at Sucker Punch Productions, was fired because of posts he made.
