Glen Powell is preparing to reprise his role in a second season of his Hulu series, Chad Powers. Fans will be happy to hear this, as the first season ended with an unresolved cliffhanger that will finally be addressed. While the show proved popular enough to earn a renewal, it didn’t receive universal praise – it currently has a 59% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it’s common for shows to be more popular with viewers than with critics.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the renewal of the series. Hulu describes Chad Powers:
Eight years after a serious error cost him his future in college football, talented quarterback Russ Holliday attempts a comeback. He goes undercover as “Chad Powers,” a quirky new player trying out for the struggling South Georgia Catfish team.
The character Chad Powers originated from a bit on Eli Manning’s show, Eli’s Places. In that sketch, Peyton Manning disguised himself with prosthetics and unexpectedly showed up at college football tryouts, amazing everyone with his abilities. There’s no news yet on when a second season might be filmed or become available.

Glen Powell gained widespread recognition after appearing in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, where he stood out alongside even established stars like Tom Cruise. While Maverick introduced him to many, it was just the beginning of his rising career. He followed up with a leading role in 2023’s Hit Man, and his chemistry with Sydney Sweeney in the popular rom-com Anybody but You generated a lot of excitement. Powell continued his success with a starring role in Twisters, and his energetic performances are leading many to see him as an actor poised to follow in the footsteps of Tom Cruise.
Similar to his previous film, Chad Powers, Adam Sandler’s The Running Man received mixed reactions. Critics generally liked it, giving it a 62% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it wasn’t a big hit with audiences, earning only $60 million so far.
Glen Powell is set to appear in J.J. Abrams’ Ghostwriter with Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, and Samuel L. Jackson. While Paramount is developing a Top Gun 3, it’s too early to say if Powell will be involved. Many fans believe Powell has the potential to play a superhero, and with Tom Cruise potentially moving on from the Mission: Impossible series, some are suggesting Powell as a great choice to take over the lead role.
