The trailer for GOAT takes inspiration from Chris Tougas’s book, “Funky Dunks.” This original action-comedy, from Sony Pictures Animation – the team behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and KPop Demon Hunters – is set in a world entirely populated by animals.

What’s the Goat trailer about…

This is the story of Will, a small goat with huge ambitions. He gets the chance of a lifetime to play roarball, a fast-paced, full-contact sport played by the world’s most powerful animals. His teammates aren’t happy to have such a small player on the team, but Will is determined to change the game and show everyone that size doesn’t matter – anyone can play!

Who is in it?

The film features a star-studded cast including Caleb McLaughlin, Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry, and Nicola Coughlan, who makes her debut as a voice actor in a fully animated film. Joining them are Nick Kroll, David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Eduardo Franco, Sherry Cola, Jelly Roll, and Jennifer Hudson, who is voicing an animated character for the first time – previously, she only provided singing voices.

The movie is scheduled to come out in the US around the time of the 2026 NBA All-Star weekend. The trailer features the song ‘I Wish’ by Skee-Lo, originally released in 1995. The song is about Skee-Lo’s desire to be taller, specifically to be better at basketball and compete with larger players – just like the main character, Will Harris, in the film. The movie boasts a large and diverse cast of animals, and it’s expected to be comparable to the animated film Zootopia. We’re excited to see how they bring all these animals to life when the movie is released.
