The God of War series is gaining momentum with the unexpected release of Sons of Sparta, a 2.5D prequel, and the upcoming God of War Trilogy Remake. Fans were anxious to learn about the next major installment, but recent reports suggested news would arrive this summer. Now, Christopher Judge, who voiced Kratos in both the 2018 game and Ragnarok, has confirmed we’ll hear more about his return to the role later this summer.
He explained that, despite appearances, he wasn’t trying to fix a problem with his recent statement. He clarified he has no involvement with the original games and their content. Although he’d love to work with Sony Santa Monica on God of War again, he’s currently focused on other exciting projects, with more details coming this summer.
This section covers details about the planned remake of the original God of War trilogy, including updates to the technology and combat. Importantly, the game isn’t a complete restart, but rather a reimagining. Rumors suggest TC Carson will return as the voice of Kratos, though Santa Monica Studio hasn’t made an official announcement yet.
The more intriguing part suggests, though it doesn’t state directly, that his future games won’t be made with the current studio or focus on the God of War series. The promise of more details this summer strengthens the rumors about a new game reveal. It’s reportedly being directed by Cory Barlog, marking his first time as sole director since God of War (2018). While he was a creative director and producer on Ragnarok, Eric Williams directed that game.
Details are scarce about the next God of War game, but according to a report from gaming insider Tom Henderson, it might take players back to Greece – the setting of the original games. The report also suggests that Kratos could be using a scythe as his primary weapon.
Just to be clear, I wasn’t involved in creating the original games or their content at all. While I’d love to work on projects related to SSM and GofW in the future, I’m currently focused on some other exciting projects. I’ll share more details this summer! ❤️
