Do you remember how incredibly popular Guitar Hero used to be? The people who originally made the game have come together to create something similar, a brand new music game inspired by its legacy.
Okay, so RedOctane just dropped news about this new game called Stage Tour. It’s a rhythm game, but here’s the cool part – you’re meant to play it using guitar controllers and stuff like that. Basically, it’s designed for all my instrument peripherals, which is awesome!
The studio includes several people who previously worked at RedOctane, the company that created the original Guitar Hero games and its controllers (in collaboration with Harmonix).
Stage Tour aims to bring back the kind of rhythm game that hasn’t been popular since Guitar Hero Live didn’t succeed. Despite that, projects created by fans, like Clone Hero, and Fortnite’s Festival mode prove people are still interested in this type of game.
The new game will feel instantly familiar to fans of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Like those games, coloured notes scroll towards you on screen, and you’ll need to hit them in time with the music.
The game lets you play like a musician using special controllers shaped like instruments – mainly guitars, but also bass, drums, and even vocals. It looks like they’re making new controllers specifically for this game.
Stage Tour builds on the gameplay you already know and love by adding fresh content like new features, game modes, a wide variety of bandmates and instruments to customize your experience, a strong competitive element, and a plan for ongoing seasonal updates and live events.
I’m so excited – it’s heading to PC and consoles this fall! They haven’t said exactly which consoles yet, but they promised to share more details soon.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on this project! Are you excited about Stage Tour and the possibility of bringing back plastic guitar controllers? Share your feedback in the comments below.
