Turn A Gundam is unique among its peers, distinguished by its distinct atmosphere, grand scale, and unusual designs. Now, two of these almost angelic mobile suits are being re-released as some of Bandai’s most beautifully crafted model kits.
This set includes model kits of two powerful mobile suits – the ∀ Gundam and the Turn X – from the Turn A Gundam anime. Both designs have a look similar to those found in ‘Super Robot’ series. The kits feature a special plastic that mimics the self-repairing abilities of the mobile suits. This re-release happens alongside a new version of the iconic “butterfly effect” kit, and pre-orders are open now, allowing fans to build the climactic final battle from Turn A Gundam.
Bandai Re-Releases Two of the Most Beautiful Gundam Kits Ever

The Bandai MG 1/100 ∀ Gundam / Turn X [Nano-Skin Image] set features both the Turn A Gundam and Turn X Gundam, piloted by Loran Cehack and Gym Ghingham, respectively. These highly detailed model kits stand approximately 7 inches tall and have a full inner frame. They also utilize metallic molding and waterslide decals to accurately reproduce the self-repairing Nano-Skin armor seen in the anime.
The model kits have a subtly shiny finish that complements the series’ imaginative and slightly playful take on mobile suits. Optional ‘Moonlight Butterfly’ effect wings are also available, designed for use with either the Turn A or Turn X. These wings are crafted to reflect light, highlighting the metallic details of the models and contributing to a graceful, almost angelic look.
These model kits include display stands and all the original accessories – like beam rifles, sabers, shields, and the Gundam Hammer for the Turn A, and a beam rifle, bazooka, hand beam gun, and triple missile launcher for the Turn X. With their weapons, unique designs, and butterfly wings, these kits create a striking appearance and are among the most distinctive and visually appealing Gunpla models available.
I’m so excited – the new set is up for pre-order on Premium Bandai right now for about $100! It’s scheduled to ship in July. And if you’re eager to add some extra flair, the Expansion Effect is coming out about a month before that and will be around $15. For those who don’t know, Turn A Gundam originally aired over 25 years ago, and it really stood out as one of the most unique alternate timelines in the whole Gundam universe!
The film’s distinctive, industrial look—reminiscent of steampunk—was created by designer Syd Mead. It also marked the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
