The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will unite the Avengers with the X-Men, bringing back several actors who previously played mutants in the Fox-produced Marvel films. Although many X-Men characters will appear, Storm, a key figure in the original X-Men trilogy, will not be featured in the story.
Halle Berry recently discussed her role as Storm in the X-Men films with ScreenRant, while promoting her new movie, Crime 101. She confirmed she won’t be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. When asked about the enthusiastic fan response to the mutants’ return, Berry shared, “It’s wonderful to see. Storm is a character I’m very fond of, and I feel lucky to have played her.”
She explained how much she loves the X-Men and the themes of being different and an outsider, saying there have been X-Men movies she’s been happy to share with her children. She feels the movies have important messages, especially as her kids have gotten older, and considers the franchise to be very special. Although she won’t be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film, she hinted she’d jump at the chance to be involved in a future installment.
She might be referring to additional filming for Avengers: Doomsday, as several actors are scheduled for reshoots with the directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, this spring. It’s important to remember that Marvel actors are often required to be secretive about future projects, so they sometimes have to deny involvement even when they are part of them.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Storm, played by Halle Berry, makes a cameo appearance, much like rumors suggest Famke Janssen will reprise her role as Jean Grey in Avengers: Doomsday, even though Janssen has denied involvement. Kevin Feige has hinted that more unannounced characters will appear, and that list could include other X-Men heroes.
Besides Deadpool & Wolverine, there’s another Marvel movie, Avengers: Secret Wars, that Halle Berry might appear in. Filming for Secret Wars is expected to begin this summer, and since the cast hasn’t been announced yet, her character, Storm, could still be included.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18.
