Halle Berry Confirms She’s Engaged to Van Hunt After 6 Years of Dating

Halle Berry is preparing for the ultimate union with Van Hunt.

Although there were rumors that the Monster’s Ball actress rejected a proposal from Van last year, she’s confirming they are now engaged.

She explained to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that a rumor is circulating. Apparently, people think her boyfriend of almost six years, Van Hunt, proposed and she turned him down. She clarified that this isn’t quite right.

Halle clarified, “I didn’t actually refuse his proposal.” While they haven’t set a date yet, she confirmed she happily accepted and will marry him!

And amid congratulations from Jimmy, the X-Men star teased, “He did put a little ring on it.”

The jewelry glimpsed in the footage isn’t as small as it seems. It’s actually a thick, gold engagement ring with black detailing and a diamond.

I’m so thrilled to share that Halle and Van are officially planning their wedding! It’s been a bit of a journey – Van actually proposed eight months ago, but Halle hadn’t given him a definite ‘yes’ at the time. Now, though, it’s full steam ahead for these two, and I couldn’t be happier for them!

He mentioned submitting a proposal that’s currently stalled, as you can see. He added that it’s still being considered and suggested someone might want to encourage her to take a look at it, during an interview with Halle for Today.com in June.

The Academy Award-winning actress hadn’t responded to her partner’s proposal because she believed their love didn’t require a ring to be valid.

Halle, who shares 17-year-old Nahla Ariela Aubry with her ex, Gabriel Aubry, and 12-year-old Maceo-Robert Martinez with Olivier, says the key to her lasting relationship—which began with a setup by Van’s brother—is having built a solid foundation from the beginning.

Halle shared that she and Van fell in love simply through deep conversations before they ever met in person. They shared everything – the good, the bad, and even the difficult parts of their lives – and were completely honest with each other, as she revealed on Today With Jenna & Friends in June.
