Okay, as a long-time Halo fan, this is wild. It’s honestly a bit shocking to see Microsoft putting so much effort into making it look like the PS5 Pro is the best place to experience the original Halo: Combat Evolved. It’s like they’re trying to convince us to play Halo… on a PlayStation? It’s making me question everything I thought I knew!
It’s understandable that the developers would focus on PlayStation players first. This is the first time a major Xbox game has been released on a Sony console, so it’s likely to be most popular with PlayStation owners.
It’s impressive how much Xbox is doing to enhance this game. Right after PlayStation showed off a trailer for the remake on PS5 Pro, Xbox confirmed that ‘Campaign Evolved‘ will fully utilize all of the new features the Pro console offers.
According to Game Informer, the game will take advantage of features like PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, optimized SSD performance, quicker loading times, 3D audio, and special capabilities of the DualSense controller.
One publication directly asked Halo Studios if the PS5 Pro would be the ideal platform for playing the original Halo: Combat Evolved, but the developers didn’t respond to the question.
Even with just a preview, it’s obvious that Campaign Evolved is designed to really showcase the power of Sony’s high-end console.
According to Game Informer, the PlayStation 5 Pro is expected to deliver a better experience than even Microsoft’s Xbox Series X can offer.
It’s still pretty surreal to even be talking about a Halo game potentially appearing on PlayStation, but that seems to be where things are headed. Of course, all of this could change if Xbox decides to reverse course unexpectedly.
Probably a good job that the remake’s already selling stupidly well on PS5, eh?
