HBO Max Releasing New 16-Part Harry Potter Project Ahead Of Remake Series

HBO Max is developing a new project based on the world of Harry Potter, signaling the start of a fresh wave of content for fans.

The Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling have become incredibly popular on film, and in early 2021, Warner Bros. announced a new TV series for HBO. The show will be created by Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, who both worked on Succession, and will initially cover the events of the first book, The Sorcerer’s Stone. It’s scheduled to debut on December 25th.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original movies, HBO Max is launching a new podcast where they’ll rewatch the Harry Potter films. The 16-part series, starting May 19th, will be hosted by Rhianna Dhillon. Each episode will combine detailed summaries of the movies with thoughtful discussions about the most memorable scenes and key themes, starting with The Sorcerer’s Stone.

The Harry Potter rewatch podcast will include a segment called “Magic Makers,” where Dhillon will interview people who actually worked on the films, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how they were made. The podcast will launch with two episodes, and then release new episodes weekly, each about an hour long. You’ll be able to watch it on HBO Max and listen on all your favorite podcast apps.
