HBO’s Harry Potter Series Set Photos Reveal New Look At The Weasley Family

HBO’s Harry Potter series is bringing the magic to the streets of London.

I’m absolutely thrilled that HBO is revisiting the Wizarding World! After the incredible success of the Harry Potter movies – a franchise that earned over $7.7 billion worldwide – it feels like magic is coming home. It’s amazing to think about everything that world has created, from spin-off stories to all the incredible merchandise and theme parks. And of course, it launched the careers of actors I’ve admired for years, like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, and Rupert Grint. I can’t wait to see what HBO does with it!

Fans recently got a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Harry Potter series for HBO while filming in Waterloo, London. Photos show the Weasley family – Molly (Katherine Parkinson), Fred (Tristan Harland), and George (Gabriel Harland) – alongside Vernon Dursley (Daniel Rigby). There are also separate pictures of Fred and George Weasley together.

Okay, so there’s a lot of buzz about filming at Waterloo Station, and everyone thinks it might be for the big finale of the first season. It looks like they’re recreating the ending of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which is super cool! What’s really interesting, though, is that John Hopkins was spotted on set. The rumor is he’s playing Hermione’s dad! It’s a small detail – he wasn’t really featured much in the original movies, and he wasn’t even named in the books. He and Hermione’s mom were both Muggles, of course, but it’s neat to see them fleshing out that part of her backstory.

A red double-decker bus with “Crouch End” on the display was seen near the famous train station. While Crouch End is a real place in London, it could also be a reference to the Crouch family, including Bartemius Crouch Senior, a powerful Ministry of Magic official during the First Wizarding War. King’s Cross station is well-known as the starting point for students traveling to Hogwarts, departing from the hidden Platform 9¾ to begin their school year.

I just got a peek at some on-location filming for the upcoming series, and things are looking great! Dominic McLaughlin, who’s taking on the role of Harry Potter, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley were spotted shooting scenes in London. We also got our first glimpse of Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley. I chatted with Julia Parkinson, who plays Molly Weasley, and she had nothing but praise for the young actors. She told the Daily Mirror that they’re absolutely fantastic, and she’s even hoping to introduce them to her daughters – a real testament to their talent and professionalism, she said.

The first season of HBO’s Harry Potter series will have eight episodes and aims to be a closer adaptation of the books than the movies were. While a new group of actors is taking on the roles, some familiar faces are returning, like Warwick Davis, who will reprise his role as Professor Filius Flitwick.

Harry Potter season 1 will premiere on December 25, 2026.
