Currently, Hideo Kojima might just be one of the most active directors/designers in the gaming industry. Apart from giving numerous interviews and regularly updating his social media accounts, he is also managing to work on no less than three games concurrently at his studio, Kojima Productions.
First up is Death Stranding 2: On the Shore, where he’s making improvements for the recently launched game. Next, we have OD, a chilling game that he’s dedicating more attention to as the sequel gets underway. Lastly, there’s Physint – a PlayStation-exclusive title with an air of mystery, first announced at the beginning of last year.
According to IndieWire’s interview, Kojima himself is the sole worker on the current version of his latest project.
Asked what he’s currently working on, here’s his full answer:
Currently, I’m analyzing the gameplay data from Death Stranding 2 players globally – observing their weapon choices, preferred paths, and more. Additionally, I’ve noticed a few minor issues that need addressing, so I’m determining where and what adjustments are necessary. On top of that, I’m collaborating with the team on our new project called “OD,” as well as working individually on “Physint” since it is still in the conceptual phase. Furthermore, I have numerous interviews scheduled daily, along with promotional activities such as photo-shoots. To be honest, there’s still a lot to finish with the title before it’s complete.
Essentially, Physint is being developed, although it’s still in the early stages of concept creation, which implies that Kojima is working on it independently. This essentially means we can expect it to be a significant amount of time before it becomes available.
It’s at least reassuring that he mentioned it, indicating awareness of the issue. Although we might have to wait a while, it seems the project is under development.
At present, our understanding of Physint primarily revolves around it being a forthcoming action espionage game, which seems to bear resemblances to the Metal Gear Solid franchise in spirit. Furthermore, the creators intend to surpass the boundaries between cinema and gaming with this project.
