Title “Death Stranding 2: On the Shore” has been met with tremendous acclaim, yet for director Hideo Kojima, the grind doesn’t stop. He’s got two significant endeavors in the pipeline: “OD”, currently under Xbox Game Studios, and “Physint”, under Sony. Both projects have encountered development challenges due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, but they aim to resume work this year.
After they’ve been released, it appears that Kojima might finally get the chance to direct a movie. In an interview with Brut (translated by Genki on Twitter), he mentioned that he would look into the state of affairs at Kojima Productions following the launch of both titles and potentially move forward with a film project if possible.
Based on the duration of production, it’s likely that these two titles (including Death Stranding 2: On the Beach) might be among his final releases for some time. We’ll have to wait and see if this comes to pass, so keep an eye out for updates.
For the time being, you can now play Death Stranding 2 on PS5. Our review of it is available if you’re interested. It’s projected to have sold over 1.4 million copies within just a few days, although Sony and Kojima Productions have yet to release the official sales numbers.
After completing DS2, OD, and PHYSINT, Hideo Kojima plans to assess the status of Kojima Productions. If circumstances allow, he intends to shift his focus towards filmmaking!
