Highly Rated 2025 Action RPG Coming to Nintendo Switch (And It’s Perfect for Hades 2 Fans)

Nintendo Switch owners have a lot to look forward to in 2026 with a growing number of RPGs becoming available. While many exciting RPGs from the last few years will take advantage of the improved power of the new Switch 2, there’s also great news for those with the original Nintendo Switch. A new, highly praised action RPG, often compared to the popular game Hades 2, is coming to the Nintendo Switch this month.

The action RPG Maid of Salvation, created by the developers of HunterX, launched on Steam in October 2025 and has received a “Very Positive” rating. This anime-style dark fantasy game is coming to Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 on January 28th. You can pre-order it now from the Nintendo eShop with a 25% discount, bringing the price down to just over $11 – a great deal for a quality action RPG on a handheld console. The full price is only $15.

Maid of Salvation Brings Hack-and-Slash Action to Nintendo Switch for Just $15

In Maid of Salvation, you play as Shizuka, a strong maid whose job is to help lost souls find peace. This involves challenging battles against dangerous creatures in exciting and detailed combat. You can unlock new abilities and weapons to create your own unique fighting style, using swords, guns, and special techniques, all presented with beautiful, anime-inspired 3D graphics.

Maid of Salvation combines challenging, Dark Souls-inspired combat with the exploration of a Metroidvania. You’ll journey through diverse environments, overcoming enemies, solving puzzles, and navigating platforming sections to advance. The game also features a deep skill system, letting you build a character perfectly suited to how you like to play. Be prepared to upgrade your abilities, as the final areas include some very difficult boss fights!

I’ve been checking out Maid of Salvation after seeing it launch on Steam, and honestly, it’s been getting a lot of love! A lot of us who enjoyed the HunterX games are saying this feels like a natural follow-up – it takes everything we liked about those games and builds on it with a fresh story. I’m really digging the dungeons and the combat feels super smooth and satisfying. A few people have mentioned it can get a little repetitive after a while, but for fifteen bucks, it’s totally worth checking out, in my opinion.

You can now play Maid of Salvation on PC through Steam, and it works great with the Steam Deck. It will be released on Nintendo Switch on January 28th, and you can pre-order it now. The game normally costs $15, but you can get it for 25% off if you pre-order before January 28th. This is the Switch version of the game and will also be compatible with the next generation Nintendo Switch console.
