Mewgenics, created by the developers of popular games like The End Is Nigh and The Binding of Isaac, was released on PC, and players have been wondering if it will also be available on game consoles.
Okay, so it’s pretty much official now – the game is coming to consoles! I was hoping for this for ages, and it looks like it’s finally happening. Any worries I had about whether it would actually happen can finally be put to rest.
Edmund McMillen, the creator of Mewgenics, hinted that the game might come to the new Switch 2. Shortly after, Tyrone Rodriguez from Nicalis—the team that brought The Binding of Isaac to consoles—shared a video showing Mewgenics running smoothly on PlayStation 5.
To prove it’s a PS5 running the game, the control centre is pulled up using the PS button.
So, yes, Mewgenics really is heading to PS5 — now it’s just a question of when.
The game was released on PC just a few months ago, in February, so it’s still very new. It’s been about six weeks since launch, and we’re hoping the PlayStation 5 version will be available soon. It’s good to hear it’s on the way, at least!
Mewgenics is a strategy game where you take turns, and it has a lot of features common in roguelike games. During a playthrough, the gameplay is similar to XCOM: you control each of your cats individually, moving them and using their special skills to beat your opponents.
After each run, you can go home and breed your cats. Their kittens will inherit traits from their parents, making them stronger and more capable for your next attempts.
Players and critics alike have loved this game because it’s incredibly detailed, with lots of connected features and a huge variety of items and skills.
